Animaniacs 2020 Reanimation Collab

Sprite animation was pretty big on Newgrounds from 2004-2009. The last sprite series we talked about on here was the Super Mario Bros. Z series by Alvin-Earthworm. The other series would be entitled Bowser's Kingdom. It is the story of Jeff the Goomba and Hal the Koopa working for Bowser. It became one of Newgrounds most quotable series. Both Jeff and Hal even cameoed in Super Mario Bros. Z. If you haven't experienced @araskin500 and @pthouse hilarious series, now is the time.

I've been tinkering with an idea for another project. Something similar to The Tank Tribune. I won't say anymore besides that for now. As always thank you to my Patrons on Patreon. Good Morning Newgrounds! How are all of you doing today? I had a break from my day job last week, so that was nice. I'm still working on adding some touches here and there to The Tank Tribune. Mainly retooling the Supporter and Member's Choice sections going forward. The Flash Forward Jam winners were announced. The Daily Feature awards have been getting picked up by collaborations more recently. Speaking of which, the Collabinator has been getting adjusted and plugged. Alice is Dead Updates

@Hyptosis has been working on a remake of the Alice is Dead Trilogy created by @ImpendingRiot and himself for a launch on Steam. The Steam version entitled Alice is Dead: Hearts and Diamonds will include new art, lore, and puzzles. A fun classic brought back for a new generation, and new experiences for the older players.

@Vortonox wants to know if he should release some of his old stuff on Newgrounds. He is looking for feedback.

We have two entries into the Flash Portal History this morning. The first one to talk about is Super PSTW Action RPG. Which is the shortened version of Super Press Space To Win Action Role-Playing Game. You go on an adventure, upgrading stats along the way, finding the golden sword, and face off against the evil King. This was a fun little game, mocking RPG tropes and simplifying them way down. It won the Daily 3rd Place and was Frontpaged. It was made by @Rhete and one of the voice actors was @D-Mac-Double. One user however did not like this game. @axman13 made a review about it. Giving it one star and listing his reasons why. This review is no long on axman13's page. However it has been forever enshrined in our next entry this morning.

@D-Mac-Double first decided to voice act axman13's review in dramatic fashion. This would go onto @RicePirate making an animation based on it. Oddly enough, axman13's review in audio and animation form would garner more views and recognition than the game he reviewed. Dot Dot Dot - Animated would go on to win the Triple Crown on Newgrounds, winning a Daily Feature, Weekly 1st Place, and funnily enough the Review Crew Pick. axman13 reviewed the movie and took it all in stride. He liked it.

The inspiration was D-Mac's track. I thought it was hilarious, classy, and well played. One night I had eaten too much salsa and I couldn't sleep on account of stomach pains. I'd always wanted to try my hand at kinetic typography, so I gave it whirl and completed it the next day. O Fortuna was the first song that came to mind and it happened to time out almost perfectly. I bank the success of DotDotDot completely on D-Mac's performance. The success of the video was a fortuitous fluke, and to this day I am most proud of it only because it brought a good chunk of traffic to Newgrounds, to Rhete's game, and most of all to D-Mac's voice talent.

How the contest works:

1) You pick a single piece of artwork in the Art Portal from a Newgrounds artist you really appreciate (make sure to give them credit, message them when you're done).

2) Create a song inspired by that art and submit it by posting the link on this thread before the deadline! Be sure to post the link to the picture that inspired it as well as giving the name of the picture and artist!

Good Morning Newgrounds! Shout out to @Malachy for becoming the newest Patron on Patreon! Last week was quite the doozy let me tell you. Both Stepford and Wandaboy have won awards for last year's Pico Day and they've only grown from there in terms of collaborative projects. Stepford would go on to take a team and win Best Game this month. Wandaboy would take a team and go on to win Best Movie this month. The composers of Newgrounds have been on fire lately. Launching their first albums. Cranking out music. The Kitty Krew is nostalgic now, go figure. GrantTheHierophant is rapping. Krinkels ate a ghost pepper. There is no Supporter section this week. I'm working on tweaking that lately. Although supporting an independent site, without the rules of YouTube and Tumblr and the drama of DeviantArt, is a valiant effort. Some people may want more perks. I'm looking to see what I can do here to entice the Supporter base. Newgrounds is really hip and Dank (or at least I think that's what the kids say nowadays). I would like to tell you a story. It's a story about @WadeFulp, and a user by the name of sirtom93. The reasons why are because it will make this issue's Flash Portal History make more sense. At a time, different users on the site would make jokes about killing government officials. This is not okay, REALLY NOT OKAY. Even talking about it here is probably not the best idea. That's how much it is not okay.

With that said, with Wade Fulp being the primary administrator here on Newgrounds. He would get called and/or visited by the Secret Service. Mainly due to another user on the site reporting the threat or the NSA possibly catching it. Wade got tired of this happening and stated so in this thread.

Secret Service - Warning to all!

Wade was getting tired of having to answer these calls. Tell the Secret Service it was dumb kids being dumb kids. He then started to send the Secret Service to user's houses so they could answer for this to not only the Federal Government, but their family as well. Wade was getting tired of his time being wasted and the government's time being wasted. He decided that if any threats are made. Once the Secret Service has the information they're looking for, said user's account would be terminated.

Now this thread is not the focus, it is the setup. To give you a basis of who Wade Fulp is. He is Tom's older brother. He doesn't take shit from anyone on the site. He will take you down if need be. With that being said, let's get to the point of discussion.

This is it.

sirtom93. Made a thread stating that he was going to attack his school with arson and other forms of violence. He took a picture of a petrol can that said "Sirtom's Petrol" on the side. This thread was made on March 17, 2009 at 6:40 AM EST. Former user deckheadtottie began calling the Police at 7:04 AM. sirtom93 was not worried though because he felt like no one can get him. Enter Wade Fulp at 7:14 AM.

Leave this topic, authorities are being contacted.

Reading that sentence still sends chills down my spine. At that point, the entire thread became a collective effort to get a hold of the Police in the UK. To stop him from his plans of arson and who knows what else. @Zerok provided pictures of him for cross-reference, PIC 1 | 2. Zerok also provided important information on who he is. There was debate on whether or not to lock the thread, no moderator dared override Wade's decision on leaving it open for information.

At 12:11 PM EST, Zerok announced that sirtom93 was in custody. Around 12:14 PM EST Zerok announced that the detective was interrogating sirtom93 and that he dropped the names of two people with similar interests. The names were forwarded to Wade for information and approval before going public.

We hadn't heard word until @Rig announced at 3:09 PM EST that sirtom93 would be in custody overnight. The police were still monitoring the thread. Wade locked the thread at 7:06 PM EST. 12 hours after his initial post. Rig would cover the rest of the story in his news post.

On March 18, 2009, sirtom93 was allowed to make phone calls. He said he had no intention of doing anything. He was found with the gas can, matches, and knives on him. He brought them only to show off. On March 30, 2009, he was apparently being held in a secure psychiatric unit. March 2010 his preliminary hearing had begun. On November 2010 he had been tried, charged, and sent to a secure hospital unit and wouldn't be released until approved by a medical board. His last post on Newgrounds came in the Ng Viking Army thread. He said he would be out by March. That was the last we heard from him. This was the last we would hear from sirtom93.

Now why did I tell you this whole story? One, to tell you the amazement of Newgrounds and how fast it can act on a problem if need be. Two, to show you not to mess around on the site with baseless accusations and threats, because the hammer will come down upon you. Three, DO. NOT. FUCK. WITH. WADE. FULP. Four, Newgrounds will make fun of you, at your expense, for trying to do something stupid which leads me to this.

We featured @scottmale24 back in Issue NO. 6 of The Tank Tribune for Forum History. Now he has taken this bit of history and made a Flash Game. You can act out the events that sirtom93 took on this day in hilarious fashion. The story has a familiar ending though, you get busted in the end.

"Newgrounds used to thrive on that sort of push-the-boundaries-of-what-is-offensi ve entertainment. The whole situation was just so bizarre and almost surreal, it was almost as if he set himself up to be caught. At the time of the incident I'd been working on a point-and-click style game engine for fun, and I'd been dying to use Rucklo's "Drunk" song in a submission. It was almost a calling. A duty. It was written in my DNA and in my coffee grounds and in the stars that I assume hang in the sky beyond the constantly overcast nights of upstate New York.

And it was fun to make."

Update on life

@ShayInator has been stressed out due to medical problems with her mom and work. Her mom has decided to stop chemotherapy. Her business is doing well, running personal craft fairs which helps get her mind off of things for a while. She hasn't been drawing in a while, but she's looking to get back into it and looking to not be as much of a hermit. Her snake and her cat Biscuit are doing well. Her Dad also got his license back and is doing well and having fun driving again. He wasn't driving due to a blind eye. She is also interested in how your life is going.

Good Morning Newgrounds! This issue's Phonograph is dedicated to sorohanro! He has been a fan and huge support of my projects here on Newgrounds. With his song Light Orchestral Loop being the theme song for @TheInterviewer. The old version of Paper Dragon and Paper Dragon being the Intro and Outro for The Tank Tribune. As a Supporter Only Upgrade, Newgrounds Supporters can change the shape of their Profile Icons. It became a thing after this year's April Fool's Day joke Dankmen NFTs and their immediate cancellation the following day due to people stealing said images. You can now be a square, a hexagon, or a RHOMBUS!

By going to a creator's creations such as their movies, games, music, and art pages respectively. The thumbnails have gotten bigger. You can scroll through each year of their works. They also have their own page outright instead of a separate page but still lumped with the profile page. There are still some kinks to work out. Kill Boe Collab (Extended deadline)

@Noodle has extended the deadline for the Kill Boe Collaboration. You now have until May 6th. The plan is to release the game on June 2nd.

1st Annual Ng Hoeboating Expedition

Yar me matey! Are ye looking for some fun and promiscuity on the high seas? Then come along with us on the Newgrounds Hoeboating Expedition! With ye faithful Captain @RedCoin and First Mate @Dean. Many a shipmate were on this expedition to plunder booty. RedCoin's faithful parrot @The-Great-One, Grand Advisor @Timmy, Binocular Guy @Jay, and Galley Cook @tarahloveshentai. They were attacked by Pirate Captain @Slint. daethdrain was also part of the ship and took down the vicious Pirate Captain Slint. You may better know daethdrain as @Seth. Pirate Captain Slint didn't stay down long though. He came back with a vengeance. The Navy showed up. @Sheizenhammer was left behind. @ZJ came in with not only a cool guy helicopter, but a submarine as well. In the end it was tarahloveshentai who would find the hoes. This was one of Newgrounds most fun threads and it would continue onward! That is a story for another time.

I think I've gotten my work schedule and my Newgrounds schedule intertwined well enough now. I'm changing up how I approach my weekly stuff now. We'll see what happens. 1 year anniversary on NG!

@chromxtic is celebrating their first year on Newgrounds! They give thanks to those who have supported their works and have eluded to a potential game in the future.

@deathink had a great idea one day. What if you could listen to Newgrounds Audio Portal while browsing the site or working on a project for Newgrounds. It was one of the site's most ambitious projects. It would become Pico Day. Although the Flash version is outdated, it would grow into the Newgrounds Radio we have today. Tom Fulp became deathink's biggest fan. He even has his own Emoji set you can use on Newgrounds. This wouldn't be deathink's last project. Next week, we'll actually talk about another project he has done.

"The inspiration was simple, I love listening to NeoGeo musicians while I work, but hate having to stop and reload a new song every couple minuets. So I started working on what would be know as "Pico Radio", HOWEVER, when it was about 90% complete, I fried my computer. I lost "Pico Radio" (and about 4 years of other projects and assets). I told TomFulp what happened to my PC, and how I not only lost "Pico Radio", but how I also lost my new game engine. Tom offered to fix my PC for free, but more importantly he told me not to worry about losing my new game engine, because now I would have the opportunity to make a better one. And he was right. I remade "Pico Radio" and it was superior in every way, not only aesthetically, but the file was smaller, faster, with a better sound quality and I could now have an infinite number of songs on a playlist. I never took Tom up on his offer, because I could always remake everything better. You can see the original version of "Pico Radio" here."

Ng Mod Meet Up 2005

Work has been quite exhausting for me. Not my day job, I've gotten that pretty well managed. Writing here on Newgrounds. I've been getting The Interviewer back under control to where I am doing new stuff and getting through the backlog as well. The Tank Tribune I'm looking to simplify the process in its creation. My ultimate demon is procrastination though. I do have a schedule to keep me on track though. Hopefully I can get some well deserved rest in the coming days. LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Good Morning Newgrounds! This may be the last issue where I work with my original style. @Gimmick has made a news post with a different way for me to do my writing VIA news posts here on Newgrounds. I have read it, but haven't fully played around with it yet. I intend to do though. Besides that, there will be some more fleshing out of certain sections of the newspaper so things are going to be looking better going forward! With that out of the way, last week was a bit more laid back... at least it was until the Newgrounds Evangelion Collab hit the front page. The Flash Forward Jam is nearing the end. Pico Day is on the horizon. Butzbo was interviewed. All of this and more! Here's the hip happenings of Newgrounds!

Pico Day - June 11th!

A day to celebrate everything about Newgrounds! Originally hosted on Tom Fulp's birthday it has shifted around over the years. It is Newgrounds biggest holiday! If you're a creator on the site, there are multiple contests. The Top Prizes right now are $300 for Best Movie and Best Game, $170 for Best Art, and $150 for Best Music. What is Pico Day?

@Galloglasses came up with the idea to celebrate one of Newgrounds mascots. The creation of Tom Fulp, Pico. Pico is to Newgrounds what Mickey Mouse is to Disney. Pico Day is an important holiday here on Newgrounds. A celebration of Pico and his friends, the TANKMEN, and other Newgrounds iconic characters. This was an idea back in 2005. We have celebrated Pico Day since then.

IKARI FANART CONTEST!!!

@Leon0u0 is hosting an art contest for their comic series. 1st Prize is an IKARI-CHAN T-Shirt and a knee up commission. The rules are No NSFW, draw any character from the comic, and only characters from the comic. The deadline is March 31st!

One Year on Newgrounds

@MayaLaCookie is celebrating their anniversary here on Newgrounds. Being on the site for one year is a special occasion. If you haven't made your congratulations yet now is the time to do so.

Leo & Satan started off as just a simple short by @Oney and @Seankiely. It became a huge hit on Newgrounds that people wanted a sequel. It would soon become its own series on the site.

"When I was in school, my friend Sean and I were joking around and thought it would be funny if Satan was a mischievous old man whose worst punishment was putting to much sugar on someone's pancakes. We needed someone for Satan to piss off with this so I drew Leo and we made a the short Pancake Doomsday. It grew from there.

People really seemed to like Algebra Aversion, and I always wanted to make a drug related cartoon. I also wanted to see if I could top the first, I think it came pretty close."
