Ahoy mateys! It’s that time of year again! The Newgrounds Treasure Hunt is here! Captain @The-Great-One is here to take you on a voyage throughout Newgrounds! There are a lot of entries that slip through the cracks throughout the year, the Treasure Hunt is a way to put a spotlight on the hidden gems. In this contest you can win cash prizes! Not only will you win if you find the best treasure, but the creator of said treasure will win too!
The Treasure Hunt sprawls through all the Portals, Movies, Games, Audio, and Art! Be sure to click the banner above to see all the details. You can see the rules and deadline below.
RULES
- The entry cannot have been featured on the Frontpage.
- The entry cannot have won any Portal awards.
- The entry cannot have won a Jam or Contest (i.e. Pixel Day, Pico Day, etc.)
- The entry can have been a part of a Jam or Contest though.
- The entry must be rated E, T or M. No A Rated entries.
- The entry must be published anytime between January 1 and December 31 of 2024.
- You are allowed only one entry per Portal.

The Newgrounds Treasure Hunt is about to begin again this year! Be ready to look for the buried treasure of Newgrounds from the year 2024! The goal of the Treasure Hunt is to find some of the hidden gems of Newgrounds that went under the radar for the year. During its inception it only featured the main Portal. Since its inception, a lot of things have changed in the Art Portal, so the advice in the thread is outdated. Newgrounds annual tradition of not only preserving, but advancing Flash further has accumulated in the Flash Forward Jam. Here are the winners of this year’s Flash Forward Jam.
Best Game goes to @BoMToons, @Luis, and @Pyragmus for Chess Force.
Best Movie with Interactive Elements goes to @Joeyag for The Whicher 2. This is the sequel to Joeyag’s The Whicher which won 3rd Place in this category during Flash Forward Jam 2023.
Newgrounds first Low Poly Day is this Friday June 6th. The goal is similar to Pixel Day. Where Pixel Day is a celebration of pixel art from the 8-Bit and 16-Bit eras, Low Poly Day is a celebration of the low poly art from the late 90s and early 2000s eras.
If you haven’t made anything or need to add the finishing touches to your project the deadline is approaching. Be sure to post your submission with the tag "lowpolyday2025" on June 6th. There are categories for movie, game, audio, and art.
@tydaze is hosting the second Pride Collab in the Collaboration Forum. It is a collab to celebrate being who you are whether you’re lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender in celebration of Pride Month. Those participating will have their submission in a giant collage. Below are the details of the collab as well as last year’s collage. Details courtesy of tydaze.
HOW TO JOIN
- Draw a transparent image of a character or an object/symbol displaying celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride/Alliance. Use a solid black outline for your artwork and do not include any additional outer outline or drop shadow, as I will be adding these myself to unify the collage visually.
- Scale your artwork to a width of 300 pixels. (Height can vary)
- Post your submission in the Pride Collab Thread anytime from May 29 to June 27.
OPTIONAL: Upload your artwork to the Art Portal with the tag: pride-collab-2025
For your Art Portal upload you can post your works in full resolution, include alternative versions with a background, etc. You may share the link in the Pride Collab Thread alongside the scaled transparent version.

PRIDE FLAGS AND SYMBOLS
ALLIES
Even if you are not LGBTQIA+ yourself, you are more than welcome to participate as an ally. The rainbow flag is recommended to show overall support. You also have the option to use the straight ally flag if you prefer, however "straight pride" flags will not be accepted.
IDEAS AND EXAMPLES
- Your OC waving a pride flag/banner, wearing clothing in pride colors, displaying pride symbols, etc.
- Same-sex characters holding hands, embracing, etc.
- A drawing of an object painted with pride colors or marked with pride symbols.
- A decorative drawing of a pride symbol.
- Also welcome are symbols of peace and unity such as peace signs, hearts, flowers, etc.
- Using original characters is highly recommended to make your submission a personal expression of pride, but fan art will also be accepted.
- Check out the 2024 pride collab for inspiration!
@whimsical-wife has appeared in a cloud of smoke, but inhaled some of it and began coughing. Their goal is to give members of Newgrounds a shout out throughout the summer.
The way this works is you think of a Newgrounds user who is close to you, you then use this Google Form to answer questions about them. whimsical-wife will then select a user from June through July to shoutout. You and the person you shout out will be tagged @ in the post. The deadline is after July 31st 2025 when no new shout outs will be taken.
There are a few rules to follow though.
RULES
- The user you write about must have contributed at least 2 solo works to newgrounds whether it be art, movies, audio or games.
- Keep what you write at a T Rating. Only link projects to show off up to a T Rating.
- Do not shout out someone who has blocked you or otherwise wants nothing to do with you.
- You need to answer at least four questions for your shout-out to get posted.
- Please do not submit a shout-out that is only a shitpost and nothing else.
- Rule breaking shout-outs will not be posted.
@ForgeFrog has been working on a project called Make It Count. He is looking to create an open source sci-fi universe. It is similar to how the SCP Foundation was built. ForgeFrog already has artists and musicians on board, but the project needs a writer. Criteria includes a love of sci-fi (Halo, Half-Life, and Gundam). To find a writer, ForgeFrog is hosting a short story contest with cash prizes. Below are more details courtesy of ForgeFrog.
1ST PLACE - $70
2ND PLACE - $40
3RD PLACE - $20
RULES
- The story has to be at MOST 6,500 words and at least 1,000 (if you wrote like 978 or whatever, that’s fine—we’re not teachers)
- The story has to be a snapshot of two characters in a sci-fi setting
- The setting has to be new — no Star Wars, no Metroid, all new!!!
- It cannot be a utopia — there needs to be war of some kind (whether the war is happening on-planet or somewhere else, it has to be a factor)
- Your target audience is 15+
- Horror, drama, and adventure are recommended but not required (you can make a romance or a comedy, but they’ll be uphill battles…)
- No ChatGPT usage
- No re-using a story you already made, this has to be a brand-new story
- You must have PayPal to qualify for the cash prize

- Worldbuilding, originality, and attention to detail
- Writing style
- Overall quality of storytelling (was it a good read?)

Internet Archive Petition Update
@ADR3-N is sharing the Defend the Internet Archive Petition. Multiple record labels have come together over a $700 million lawsuit which could impact the Internet Archive as well as the Wayback Machine. The Internet Archive and Wayback Machine are both ways to preserve digital media that is lost or deleted. The Wayback Machine alone has been incredibly useful for those on Newgrounds, including the Newgrounds Archive here on the site. If you have time, sign the petition and spread it as far as you can.

Good Morning Newgrounds! Welcome to The Tank Tribune! The only newspaper that gives Wegra an outlet. I’m looking forward to catching up on a lot of Newgrounds stuff going forward, especially with The Interviewer, which has been an abandoned project since May of last year. - Upload your submission to a file sharing site. (e.g. MediaFire, Google Drive (make the video public in Google Drive), CatBox, FileDitch, unlisted YouTube video)
- When the file has finished uploading to the file sharing site, copy the link that has your video and paste it to the message.
- Send the message.
- Boom! You're done.

It has been a rough couple of months. I won't lie. Things are getting back to a state of normalcy. I’m able to be the workhorse I was known for on this site once again. Aalasteir has held that throne for too long. I still need to fill judge roles for the Newgrounds Treasure Hunt this year. That will start in June and hopefully all the judges' scores will be tabulated in June as well if everything goes well. Here’s to next week and many other projects along the way.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Hello Newgrounds. It has been a while. Although I don't have much to offer here in this issue, due to a combination of my day job and a backlog of projects that I'm working on. Takeover Tuesday is getting a new way of doing things. If you make a playlist of either what you featured as a Supporter for Takeover Tuesday or what you liked from Takeover Tuesday, it may be featured here on The Tank Tribune. I've got a lot to do this week, so I won't bore you any further here. Sorry for my absence.

It's that time again to find the underrated gems hidden throughout Newgrounds for the past year. Treasure Hunt 2025 is going on. Sadly @SplatterDash will not be able to host this year so @The-Great-One is hosting solo this year. He's currently looking for judges to help judge the entries.
Qualifications are simple...
- Must have at least one entry in the Portal with at least 1,000 views.
- Must be a member of Newgrounds for at least one year. If you're one year anniversary is less than a month away, then you can still qualify.
- Must be able to judge within a strict time frame. Judging period will last two weeks and will begin immediately after the submission period.
If you're interested in judging for the Treasure Hunt, simply send The-Great-One a PM.
The Treasure Hunt is a way for Newgrounds Members and Underrated Creators to win cash prizes. There will be awards for both the finder of the best Treasure and the creator of the Treasure.

Most of my time for The Tank Tribune has been shifted to working on the Newgrounds Treasure Hunt. I'll be running it solo this year instead of alongside @SplatterDash. The Tank Tribune will be out either tomorrow or Tuesday, most likely Tuesday, since I've been handling a lot of stuff that's been on the back burner and trying to get stuff back into order.

As many of you know, my day job has been the main factor of my time being taken away from Newgrounds. I haven't even had time to work on The Interviewer and I have a backlog of that to work on. However, my job has been working on my hours and my workload to where I have a more consistent work schedule going forward.
I know I said that The Tank Tribune would be moved to Mondays, well good news, it is going to remain on Sunday going forward. I thought about posting a Tribune today, but it would have been a halfhearted post and I don't want to do that for you guys.
There will be a new section going forward that involves Newgrounds favorite, @Wegra. His work has been cutting his hours to almost non-existence so if you can donate anything at all to his Ko-Fi then please do.
Again, thank you for reading, your patience and understanding. I'll see you all this coming Sunday.

Sorry once again for the delay. Work has been destroying me, mostly stressing me out to the point of what little time I have to give to Newgrounds isn't manageable. Thankfully my boss has heard my concerns and I have a much better schedule now, so there's that. I've been working on Monday's issue, it's just gonna come out late that day or on Tuesday. There will be a brand new segment involving one of Newgrounds most beloved members, so you got that to look forward to.
