So, I've still been working on the new format for The Tank Tribune. I'm gonna have to push back one more week. My apologies for this matter. Internet has been in and out recently in my area due to the aftermath of the hurricane. I've also been needing to catch up on my other projects as well.

I've been toying with a new format for The Tank Tribune, both here and on my Patreon. I'm looking at incorporating Takeover Tuesday and am hoping to merge that with my Patreon going forward. Expect something brand new this coming Saturday and Sunday. Sorry for delaying ya'll for another week.

Everything is fine after the hurricane and the clean-up process for the house is done. The smell that came from the spoiled food in the freezer was certainly a smell for the ages.

Hello Newgrounds.

To make a long story short, I live in South Carolina.

To make a long story long. I live in South Carolina and was affected by Hurricane Helene. I had three trees fall on my house, which thankfully caused zero damage to my house. Got lucky there because my house has two skylights where the trees fell and they all missed.

Unfortunately I had lost power from Friday the 27th until October 3rd. I didn't have Internet until this past Sunday on October 5th, and even then it was pretty spotty. I had no way of working on any Newgrounds material. I had to conserve battery power because my day job still had power, so I had to charge my phone at work. Unfortunately Newgrounds is blocked on the work computer and my work was without Internet as well.

Thankfully power is back on and I have done damage control at home and am now in the process of getting the inside of the house situated as well, because everything in my refrigerator and freezer went bad. I am sorry for the delay in The Tank Tribune.

Good Morning Newgrounds! The past two weeks have been exhausting to say the least. I've been working on getting on a better sleep schedule and it has definitely had it affect on it. There has been quite a bit going on with Madness Day right around the corner. It's incredible we've been celebrating Madness Day since 2007! Not only that, the Sketch Collab has been going since 2007 as well and is approaching. The Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch is still ongoing, with the judges coming to their final decisions for Round 2. The Tribune will be featuring podcasts in the interview section of the paper instead of strictly focusing on The Interviewer. I've been working on changes for the paper, looking to expand it and bring in more from my Patreon patrons. Oh, and please stop sending friend requests to The Tank Tribune. @midgetsausage is hosting the annual Sketch Collab this year. This collab has been going on since 2007. Every year, animators gather together to make short animated segments. The organizer then compiles them together with a song to go in the background. If you want to participate in this traditional collab, then click the pic above! Newgrounds voted, in the brand new voting system, which splits up the Movies and Games from the Portal and now there are Best of the Month awards for Art and Audio. Not only this, now entries that have won in the Top 5 have Best of the Month trophies on their entry and their trophies page. The Tank Tribune will showcase the Number 1 entry from each Portal!

Best Movie goes to @JamesLee for Fuck the Artists. It also picked up the Daily Feature and Weekly Users' Choice awards. This marks his 10th Best of the Month award! Previous wins include Batman Hates Bronies, Breaking up with Adobe, and DOPAMINE DANCE MAN.

Best Game goes to @rm120 for Dungeon Watchers. This marks their first Best of the Month award. Their game also won the Daily 5th Place.

Best Audio goes to @ZaneLittle for BUNNY³ (Score). It was the score for the movie BUNNY³ by @Jaquin. This movie would give both Jaquin and ZaneLittle a Daily Feature, Weekly Users' Choice, and Monthly 3rd Place. ZaneLittle picked up his 2nd Monthly 3rd Place. His first being for Animation in The Bartman Reanimate Collab.

Madness Day

The day to celebrate @Krinkels masterpiece, Madness, is next Sunday! We come together for blood, carnage, chaos, and clowns. There will be prizes for Animation, Art, and Music. • We can only regard entries submitted on SEP 22 through the end of SEP 23 at the very LATEST. That's a 48 hour window but I have to implore that you land it on SEP 22 to be easier to find and showcase. Things tend to get lost in the chaos and arriving late makes it rough.
• In the event of a collab placing, all winnings will be sent to the collab organizer for them to distribute as they see fit.
• Music submissions can only be judged as individual songs. Soundscapes or Albums should be parsed/broken down into their individual tracks so that judging can be done on a individual basis.

Ruffle & Flash Preservation Update

There have been a lot of updates to Ruffle that you can read about here. Newgrounds has been using Ruffle to run Flash games on the site, with the death of Flash in 2020. Originally made by Newgrounds own @mike, multiple developers have been hard at work to help the preservation of Flash. You can help support Ruffle here.

If you can't make a donation towards Ruffle, you can help out on Newgrounds by being a part of the Ruffle Testing / Flash Preservation Crew.

Ruffle ensures that we preserve the history of Newgrounds, without it, the Sunday Console on The Tank Tribune wouldn't be as awesome as it is. We wouldn't have the Flash Forward Jam. There would be a lot of cool movies that you wouldn't be able to watch anymore. Not only does this benefit Newgrounds, but other surviving Flash sites that you have visited in the past.

September has been a busy month for me lately. My little brother's birthday is this month, and both of Rex's older brothers birthdays are in September as well. It is a lot to take in. Which my little brother and his wife are having a baby girl. I will be an Uncle to my new niece! Believe me, this gay uncle is ready to hold the fanciest tea party imaginable! I don't have much else to say here, life has been going pretty well, except for the sleep patterns, combining that with the day job, and too many projects on my plate once again. NG Brasil Roll Call

Brazil has banned access to X/Twitter. A lot of Brazilian artists on other social/art platforms this weekend. Tom is looking for those from Brazil to sound off. He is asking that you share your works with the site and give yourself an introduction in the thread linked above. Those who have answered the roll call include @UnevenPrankster, @LoboF, @HENOOB, @Arzonaut, @vrds022, @YamiYinYang, and beloved NSFW artist @Edeshye.

@Arzonaut is hosting a Brazil Art Contest to celebrate all of the new users to the site! The theme of the contest is to draw an original character representing Brazil through a theme or vibe. From being in a Brazil setting, wearing Brazilian colors, or eating or drinking Brazilian foods and drinks. You don’t have to limit yourself to one character either!

Judges include @Arzonaut, @Abstract, @CometZz, @MitsuTan, @Kazukoto, and @MatthewLopz. The deadline is October 13th | 11:59 PM EST. Upload your piece to the Art Portal with the tag “brazil day 2024”. Starry Tails: Looking For Main Character Voice

@LuckoDaStars, known for Dr. Good's Operating Theatre, Son Of The Musk, and Glyde the Dragon, just to name a few. He is in the works of a movie called Starry Tails and is looking for a voice actor for the character Lux. His voice is similar to that of Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog. There are examples of Tails’ voice he’s looking for (example 1 | example 2). Here’s information on Lux below.

• Lux is a golden yellow critter called a Starbunkle, a magical critter associated with fortune and jinxes. He is the 3rd smallest of his species but has the biggest ego, but also the biggest heart.
• Lux when he wants to look impressive or cute, he plays the cute card or boasts about how great he is. but when things go serious, he drops the act and make sure the people he loves are tended to.

Monthly Voting Overhaul: Mobile, Art & Music!

You have seen the Best of the Month featured on The Tank Tribune before. There has been an overhaul of how this works going forward. The standard was prizes given out for the Top Voted Movie and Game for the month as chosen by Newgrounds members based on Experience Points. This has not changed, but now the Movies and Games are separated and you can change your votes before the deadline. Also for the first time ever, Art and Music from the Art Portal and Audio Portal can be voted on.

$100 in prizes are already being given out to the Top 5 Movies and Games, with a $200 bonus given to each movie and game based on original content. Now $100 will also be awarded to the first place audio and first place art.

If you want to help donate to these prize funds, then you can go to the Supporter page and donate $50 a month. Only if you have the funds to do so. @PuffballsUnited, @53xy83457, and @TeamTrivial have already pledged money towards the prize funds.

Good Morning Newgrounds! Clock Day was this past Thursday and Round 1 - Group Stage of The Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch has begun! This morning’s Phonograph features all the combatants who have advanced to Round 1, with their pieces from the Audition Round. We take a look at Tom Fulp’s favorites. 23 years ago, @StrawberryClock released B and it managed to get through the Portal. This flash would bring forth @OrangeClock, @RaspberryClock, @AppleClock, @KnottsberryClock, to form The Clock Crew. Every year, we celebrate the Clocks of Newgrounds, by making Clock related movies, games, art, and music… also spamming the Portal on the day B hit the Portal, August 15th. We’ve celebrated Clock Day since 2005, this year being the 20th Clock Day. Below is my favorite Clock submission on Newgrounds!

Dexter's Laboratory Intro Reanimated!

@Burdrehnar has seen the success of Azumanga Daioh Intro Reanimated, and is looking to do the same with the intro of Dexter’s Laboratory. The goal is to have it completed by early October. First Update of the planetologist =)

@JamesChapp and @gares232 have released an update to their game The Planetologist. There have been changes and fixes done to the game. They’re looking for feedback, so give it a play and a comprehensive review!

We’ve covered the historic B submission here on Newgrounds before. I think it’s important to look at the history of the Clock Crew as a whole and its founder, the King of the Portal, StrawberryClock. @Graeme did an in-depth video on this historic piece, its creator, and how it made one of the biggest Newgrounds factions that many would imitate over the years.

She was a guest for The Interviewer back in 2016, and her words on art, critique, and evaluation are still relevant to this day. She has assisted in multiple projects, been a judge in the revived Treasure Hunt, a part of Sketch Collab 2022, and has helped many aspiring artists. Thank you Template88 for all you have given and continue to give to Newgrounds.

The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. This week we’re looking at the first five games favorited by @TomFulp.

Well, with this issue published, my vacation from my day job starts now. I will finally have a chance to do some work on Newgrounds and enjoy the site for a while. I may even do another 24 hour challenge. First though, I have a date with Rex tonight to see Avatar: The Last Airbender in Concert. I’ve been looking forward to that for a while. Oh and my trip to the dentist went well. I have wisdom teeth coming in. Thankfully though I have enough room in my mouth for them to come in, so I’m not concerned with removing them at this time. Art-Inspired Music 2024 Results!

The winners of this year’s Art-Inspired Music Contest have been announced. The goal is for musicians to find a piece of art and write a piece inspired by it. The winner was @Irish-Soul for his piece Missing Mini Mushrooms! - AIM. Which was inspired by @Mushcapp piece Missing Mini Mushrooms!.

Clock Day 2024

The 20th Clock Day will be this Thursday! In celebration of @StrawberryClock and his submission of B to the Flash Portal back in 2001. This would build the Clock Crew and the first Clock Day was back in 2005! Learn about Clock Crew History. Be sure to make something Clock related for a day for Newgrounds most celebrated group of animators and artists on the site.

Max Comix coming to NewGrounds!

@LuchosFactory is bringing his series Max Comix to the site. It is a fantasy themed slice of life comic inspired by Scott Pilgrim. If you’re interested you can read the series now here or wait until it makes its Newgrounds debut.

A long time ago, before The Interviewer was on Newgrounds, there was a site called Newgrounds Mag. It had news about the site, demos of future Newgrounds games, previews and trailers for big Newgrounds animations, and interviews with some of Newgrounds famous creators called Developer Spotlight. Newgrounds Mag was shut down after one of Newgrounds Redesigns. Luckily every interview in their entirety has been archived here on Newgrounds!
