Good Morning Newgrounds! I hope you're all having a fantastic day. I pulled a muscle in my leg yesterday, other than that I am A-Okay! Sorry for the delay in this issue. If you don't know why, then go back here. All you need to know is that things are going incredibly well! With that out of the way, here are the hip happenings of Newgrounds!
Newgrounds voted and the best movies, games, audio, and art are here! @PringusMcDingus won Best Movie for another entry in his Mario series with quaso. @Oroshibu, @THXsprites, @Shrombus, @SnakeBlock, and @vvalentines won Best Game for Tricky Keys 2. @BusanBlack nabbed Best Audio for Colorful Lights. @Jesseyalejandro78 picked up Best Art for chaser, it took me more than a month drawing this in ibis with my fingers it was worth it. Congratulations to all of the winners!
@Doki has released a brand new Salad Fingers toy, which you can Pre-order here. He also released a new cartoon called Plastic Hand. This will be featured in the Sunday Matinee this morning!
@KittyhawkMontrose has released a scheduler which will automatically post your art submissions to the Art Portal on a specified date. For you comic artists, this could come in handy. Tom is working behind the scenes on making Art submissions integrated into the project system, so this may soon be obsolete. It is useful for artists now until then.
@GlowBoyMusic recently has gone through quite a lot in terms of health problems and moving. We talked about this back in Issue NO. 58. They're slowly making their return to Newgrounds, with some surprises in the works!
Some new episodes of @OffTheWallShow have launched. @ThatJohnnyGuy and @The-Great-One sat down with @TeraVex and @LeviRamirez to talk about Gappy's Playground. They also sat with @Spazkid to talk about behind the scenes stuff about the development of Nightmare Cops. Give these a listen and follow Off The Wall for more!
This week's featured artist is brand new to the site. Their name is @MyClassics. They have started off by drawing masks and have moved onto Scooby-Doo. Check out their works below!
Porcelain Music Mask

This week's Sunday Matinee features movies from @Doki. The mind behind Salad Fingers, Burnt Face Man, and Sock Six. Below is his latest cartoon Plastic Hand. Click the header above to enjoy a show of some of his other works!
Today we look back at one of Newgrounds most innovative games on the site. @The-EXP gave us the game SHIFT back in 2008. A unique puzzle platformer where you have to shift between two layers of the level to figure out how to get to the end. An ingenious idea that would spawn multiple sequels, iterations on the site, and be referenced in other Newgrounds projects.
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. Here are a few silly games to play and unwind with. This week, we're looking to test your reflexes with games that require you to multitask or precision.
I would like to thank all of you for your patience again. I will be going over to Rex's house for dinner tonight, so I'm really excited! Thank you all for reading The Tank Tribune and sticking it out with me for this long. We've come a long way, starting out with just 40 fans and now reaching almost 900 readers! That's crazy. I hope you all have a fantastic Wednesday at the time of posting this!

My personal life has come between time to work on the paper and getting it posted. Looking to have it ready by Tuesday for all of you here. To help fill in the blanks. My best friend has a brother who is gay. For anonymity and protection, I will call him Rex. Rex and I have known each other through my best friend. In the recent years we've gotten to hang out more and talk to one another. I started to have feelings for him last year. He has been wanting to hang out with me more and more recently. We've connected more throughout these past couple of weeks. That's where my time has been lately.
I thank you all for your understanding during this wonderful time in my life right now. I love all of you and I will see you on Wednesday with the latest issue.
Hello Newgrounds! I don't know what time of day you're reading this. Normally I don't say this, fortunately I wasn't able to work on this paper much. Normally I work on the paper from Thursday through Saturday. Recently though a lot of good things have happened for me over the weekend. I won't go further into it here. I am mostly an open book though - so when more developments occur, I will gladly share all of the news with you. Sorry that this issue is a bit on the shorter side. I will gladly make it up to you this coming Sunday.
A regular of the London Meet-Ups, @Sziphix passed away back in 2022. It wasn't found out until liljim tried to wish him a happy birthday on Facebook. Sziphix will surely be missed here on Newgrounds. The joy and fun he brought to the members of Newgrounds will last for years.
@CrockettDK and @Gray is organizing a collab on Newgrounds celebrating Transformers. It is a sequel to Blamformers!. If you wish to be a part of the collab, send your art and animation portfolio to the Collab E-Mail for review.
@Gray has been absent from Newgrounds for some time. He's been busy with a lack of motivation. He is looking to returning to work and bringing Newgrounds more things. Check out some of his works below!
It is time we take a look back at the viral sensation that was Friday by Rebecca Black. A song that became infamous on the site. It was loved by teens and tweens. While equally being hated by teens, young adults, and adults. It was an incredibly polarizing music video and song. This is not a discussion fo Rebecca Black, that is its own topic. A small nod to Rebecca Black though is that she never took the video down, deleted comments, disabled comments, or listed the video as kids only so you couldn't see the comments. That's pretty awesome.
We are here to discuss the Point and Click Adventure Game made by @Manly-Chicken and @Pjorg. Take Rebecca Black through her Friday, to get fresh, get cereal, and party. It is a game that you can win by just following the music video, with some pitfalls here and there.
"Friday: the Game is a game I'm really proud of. I saw how popular Friday was on youtube, and how there was only one real game for it (Rebecca Whack). It was originally going to be a small game where you only have 2 or 3 choices, pick one, if it's right you move on, if not you die, etc. I tried getting Luis on board, but no. This was my first real collab with Pjorg not for a game jam."
I would like to apologize again for such a short issue. There has been a great turnaround in my life lately. Some projects I have to put on the back burner while others I will be pursuing further. Let's just say, real life has been pulling me away from Newgrounds, but for a good reason this time! I am so excited! Thank you all for continuing to read.

I am sorry for another delay on The Tank Tribune. I assure you though, it is for a good reason. There have been a lot of positive things happening in my life lately, that I had to put Newgrounds on hold for a little bit. If you know me outside of this paper, you know what I'm talking about. The next issue will be out Wednesday morning, then we'll be returning to Sundays going forward!

Which some news. During Season 4, ThatJohnnyGuy may need to step down as host going forward. There will be an opening for a new host. Details are still being discussed. If you're interested in hosting a podcast alongside The-Great-One, please stand by for more information.

MayaLaCookie has been journaling to stay on track of their projects. The Tank Tribune has welcomed them to Newgrounds in Issue NO. 38. We have talked about their burnout in the past. Then when MayaLaCookie celebrated one year on Newgrounds. It is great to see MayaLaCookie come so far on Newgrounds. The Tank Tribune hopes you will get the peace of mind you need and that your works will become better than ever!

These are all movies poking fun at Elon Musk. If one of these made you laugh, be sure to re-tweet it to Elon Musk's Twitter so he can see it! Below is just a small preview. Click the header to watch all of today's features.
@FrozenFire would bring us an ambitious project entitled Relive Your Life. Throughout mini games, narration from @Egoraptor, and music from the Audio Portal, you would bring to life your creation. There are a lot of ups and downs, some laughs are had, but in the end, we all must go. It is an incredible game from beginning to end with a ton of replay value.
"I was actually about 90% done with Relive Your Life when I was at Pico Day, because the game was made as a college assignment and it was due the day I got back. I finished putting it together on the plane ride to Texas. At the beginning of that month, I messaged Arin out of the blue and asked him, "Hey we are both going to be at Pico Day! Would you like to work with me on something?" I warned him it was a lot of voice work, but he didn't skip a beat to say yes. He was in the middle of a move too, so that just speaks wonders for his character."
This week, we take a look at one of Newgrounds finest. Talented musician, defender of the innocents on the site, one of the funniest people I've ever met, and a huge Supporter of Newgrounds. He has been on the site under multiple names throughout the years, chances are you have run into him and not even known it. Helpful when needed, giving a laugh when you're down, a role model for others on Newgrounds. Thank you for all you have given us and continue to give us throughout the years.
"I don't want this place to die. I really don't. I'll do my part to show it."
@Luis has resumed his travels throughout Europe. He has been traveling with his friend @sqeezy. They have been to Tokyo, London, Paris, and Turkey. There exists a Bruce Lee statue there. The view is gorgeous. He's looking to go to Switzerland next and maybe Macedonia afterwards. If you're a Newgrounds member in these areas, then message Luis. He might be in your neighborhood.
@trenzin191 is wondering what used to scare you when you were a kid. For him, his grandma told him that if he misbehaved, an old man would take him away in a large sack. @NikoN1nja was afraid of Slenderman. @SecretBoxFox is afraid of sharks and tornadoes. Share your childhood fears in the thread.

The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. Since people read The Tank Tribune on their phones, here are some games from the Mobile Game Jam hosted by @Stepford last year.
My apologies for the tardiness of this. I had plans for the weekend and I wasn't able to get this up until this Monday morning. Shall not happen again. I am on track with my projects since I'm not juggling as much as I used to. Next week will be the official return of The Interviewer, another Off The Wall episode, and I'll be highlighting entries from the Newgrounds Treasure Hunt as well. My Sunday was absolutely wonderful and I hope yours was as well, without The Tank Tribune to start your day off. As one creator on this site likes to stay. Stay happy, stay home, and stay hale!

This week we're taking a look at a game that took Newgrounds by storm. To where one of its updates crashed the site. It is almost three years old; its impact is still felt on the site to this day. Streamers played it on Twitch and YouTube. Many people were brought to Newgrounds because of it, giving the site a needed boost. If you haven't in a while, it is time again. To get freaky on a Friday night y'all.
"The classic tale goes that before the Ludum Dare game jam even started, I wanted to make an early 2000s ass parappa style rhythm game. Simple and straightforward lil project. Asked PhantomArcade, evilsk8r, and kawaisprite if they all wanted in and they were all down. When talking to PhantomArcade about the game, he more or less came up with a bunch of the MEAT of the game concept. Boy rap battling the rockstar dad to get the girlfriend. That’s pretty much the LORE of game jam, it all came VERY naturally. I think it’s good to just go with the flow for shit like that. Let other people have input just as much as you want input on a project yourself. I don’t think we debated for a second whether or not to do a rhythm game, it was just the choice from the start. What we were INSPIRED to do."
This week we honor one of Newgrounds most humble organizers here on the site. They have been a contestant and organizer in the Art-Inspired Music Contests, Tankmas ADVENTure's, and the Newgrounds Audio DeathMatches. Hosting Tankmas ADVENture 2021 and the 2021 Newgrounds Audio Deathmatch. Recently they were the organizer behind Tankmas Funkin and the Newgrounds Treasure Hunt 2023. They are a constant in any contest going on in the Audio Forums. Doing whatever they can to help the site. Thank you SplatterDash for your support throughout the years.
@DerangedKnite is curious how you came across the BBS here on Newgrounds. Or if you left, what was it that brought you back to it? The forums are a place where Newgrounds members chat, Supporters have their own lounge, and where many collaborations have come to fruition. Share your story with Newgrounds.
@Seth says if he hits 1,000 followers on Newgrounds, he will make a Crab Rave animation with little crabs dancing. He's at 841 fans now, he only needs 159 more. If you're reading this, go follow Seth so we can have dancing crabs!
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. Here are a few silly games to play and unwind with. To give you a quick chuckle this morning.
I am really hoping that you're all enjoying the new format. It is definitely easier on me and let's me have more fun showcasing more diverse Newgrounds stuff to all of you. It also gives me a chance to really dig through the site and find out what everyone is working on. I am thankful to all of you for continuing reading and supporting The Tank Tribune through all of its ups and downs. If you have some spare time this morning, or if you're sitting down for lunch, I implore you listen to @OffTheWallShow. It is a labor of love from both ThatJohnnyGuy and myself. Oh and if you haven't yet. Go follow Vista-Sound13. Seriously. That dude is a music machine.

The Impossible Quiz is probably viewed as one of the most rage induced games on Newgrounds, up there with Tower of Heaven. One that tends to be overlooked though is The Unfair Platformer. A game released back in 2008 that brought out the anger of Newgrounds players. The game is designed incredibly well, where each unfair advantage is weighed against you. If you beat this game back when it came out, you were awesome. Then when medals were announced and this game had medals included, thus meaning you have to beat it again to get said medals. It is just... unfair.
"The Unfair Platformer is definitely my most popular game and my most hated. I must say it was one of the most funnest games I had the pleasure of making. Theres something extremely fun about turning the level design rules on there head and just saying "Nah, take this instead!" Maybe I am a bit evil for taking such delight in peoples anger?"
Haggard has recently celebrated his 21st Newgrounds Birthday. He has been here since 2001 and has been a staple of the site through the first Clock Day, Madness Day, Treasure Hunt, and other Newgrounds events. The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. Here are a few games to play to unwind on this Sunday Morning. This week's games are detective games. Solve some mysteries and have fun!
It is good to be back on Newgrounds. Working on The Tank Tribune gave me a bit of burnout and it wasn't fulfilling like it used to be. I hope to bring more news of what is going on Newgrounds, from different people, different creators, different everything! One of my New Year's Resolutions is to not put too much on my plate. I want to do all of the things at once. I can't however do all of the things at once. I have three consistent projects now. The Tank Tribune, The Interviewer, and Off The Wall. I have promised myself not to go above five things at once and I have kept that promise. I hope you all like the new layout, even if it means I cut some sections. Those sections, although I liked highlighting people with them, turned the paper into a chore more than a project that I liked working on. Which in all honesty, I got the inspiration from how @Anonymous-Frog lays out the Tankman Triweekly. That frog is one of the most brilliant minds on Newgrounds and doesn't get the recognition they deserve. If you're not following Anonymous-Frog. You need to. Right now. Go do it NOW! Thanks for reading, and I'll see you next week!
The Tank Tribune is a part of Dohn's Desk Productions
I feel like working on The Tank Tribune has become a chore over time. It has become a bit stale. I want it to be more than it can be. Better than it can be. I've been tinkering in the background for quite a while now. That's the reason the delays. I will have something glorious and brand new for you with the next issue.
Thank you all for reading, and I'm hoping you like what I have in store. With that said, The Tank Tribune will be returning to Mondays going forward. It's the only way I can possibly make this work for the time being.
THE TANK TRIBUNE WILL BE RETURNING ON MONDAYS GOING FORWARDS!
Sorry for the delay. I've been working every day since last week, including that Sunday. The new issue of The Tank Tribune will be up on Tuesday. In the meantime, watch these badgers until then.
Good Morning Newgrounds! It is great to be back after four months of absolute crap. If you thought the end of the year makes things slow down on Newgrounds, then you ain't seen nothing yet. We have the Flash Forward Jam going from January through March. Pixel Day is on January 23rd. Jamuary is underway. There are frogs everywhere. Fro is on YouTube. @Haggard recently celebrated being on Newgrounds for 21 years. Thank you all for your support and patience during trying times in my life. With that out of the way, here are the hip happenings on Newgrounds!
The Best of December is out! "Madness: Project Nexus" Cinematic Trailer won Best Movie for its team. With @AlmightyHans as Producer and @The-Swain and @Krinkels being the creators of Madness and Project Nexus. Tankmas ADVENTure 2022 won Best Game for its team. Organized by @BrandyBuizel. Ry3 - I wonder won Best Audio for @Ry3Official. Yield won Best Art for @SovanJedi.
The 8th Annual Pixel Day is approaching! A Newgrounds holiday to celebrate pixel art! Awards go to Best Pixel Animation, Pixel Game, Pixel Art, and Chiptune Music! Get inspired and share something pixelated for the big day! The contest was originally created by @ThatJohnnyGuy back in 2016!
"I had two things in mind when creating Pixel Day, having the idea in 2015. I wanted a new NG-exclusive holiday to bring more people to Newgrounds every year, true to NG's roots as a 90's game industry-inspired platform with the look. I remember Tom saying "it's like a game" when we talked about the site layout inspiration. The earlier layouts also echoed Philly in some ways, where NG is based. I also noticed in the contests, pixel artists weren't really competing, and it was hard to."
@midgetsausage has an idea for a collaboration about frogs. He got the idea after re-watching the movie which won him his first Daily Feature entitled two frogs. As long as they are doing frog things, as long as they're cute while doing it. The rules for collaboration entry are as followed.
COLLAB ENTRY RULES/GUIDELINES
Your entry must be animated, even if the frogs in the video are doing nothing. Like at least animate them breathing or something.
Your entry must be 24fps, and must be between 5 and 11 seconds long. Entries below and/or above that limit won't be considered.
Aspect ratio must be 16:9, what resolution your entry is is completely up to you.
You're free to add sound effects as long as they aren't too loud, but please no music as much as possible, as we're gonna overlay music on top of the entries a la Sketch Collab.
Make and send as many entries as you want, just remember that quality > quantity matters more here.
Absolutely no NSFW. Do not desecrate God's most sacred of creatures.
Lastly, your entry needs to be an .mp4/.mov video!!! Though if you really really wanna be in the collab but you really really can't export your stuff as a video file, I'm willing to make exceptions.

The 3rd Annual Flash Forward Jam is officially underway! A jam to celebrate the legacy of Flash which was disbanded back in January 2020. The goal is to make a movie with interactive elements in Flash or a Flash Game. The rules for the jam are as follows.
Make a game or interactive movie with Flash. Interactive movies include animation collabs with cool menu systems, or something with decisions / alternate endings.
Make it with ActionScript 2 or (minimally supported) AS3 and confirm it works via Ruffle before publishing. You will see a “Test with Ruffle” link on your preview page. Ruffle is what we use to run Flash on NG without the Flash plugin.
Please avoid the use of copyrighted character and unlicensed commercial music. We love it when people work with artists from the Audio Portal and also manage an additional list of music resources.
Publish on NG by end of day March 26th with the “Flash-Forward-2023” tag.
The prize for Best Flash Game is $1,000! If you want to add more to the prize fund, just donate here and message Tom telling him you want it towards the Interactive Movie, Flash Game, or split between both. Your name will be added to the sponsors list.
Flash was a staple of the Internet and the driving force behind Newgrounds for so many years. Which Newgrounds is working on keeping the legacy of this creative medium alive. One of Newgrounds admins, @mike, has been hard at work on Ruffle. You can help by supporting Ruffle as well as Newgrounds. You can also score some Newgrounds Gear on Shark Robot.

If you're interested in supporting his efforts, donate to his Patreon and get behind the scenes looks at his project. If you're interested there are MOAR DETAILS HERE!
SPECIAL THANKS TO @Anonymous-Frog FOR OBTAINING THE SCREENSHOT
It is time to look back at a previous contest once hosted on this site called the Treasure Hunt. Where Newgrounds members would hunt for some of the obscure and buried entries on the site. It was a way to discover something that would slip under the radar. The contest started in 2006, unfortunately the winner Break'n Into Your House was removed when the user left the site. Its eulogy page still stands with its reviews. It was found by @Blaze.
The winner of the 2007 Treasure Hunt still stands though. It entitled A Gamer & Resident Evil 4. It was by @druggedpolitician and found by @jman6561. For this week's Flash Portal History we take a look back at this hidden gem.
Here are the Top 5 songs from the Audio Portal based on popularity for the week of January 1, 2023 - January 7, 2023. Kicking things off at number five is @SamaadBae5 for a FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' remix entitled Senpai - Friday Night Funkin' D-Side Remix (Instrumental). At number four is @Dieswyx for a Drum N' Bass song entitled New Born. Taking the number three spot is @milkypossum of Olive's Art-Venture and Rushdown Rivals fame with a Jamuary entry entitled Scope [Jamuary Day 2]. Coming in at number two is another Jamuary entry from @Quarl called To The Death (Jamuary Day 2). And the number one song of Newgrounds last week based on popularity is a Jamuary entry entitled DUMB FUCK by @Droid.
This week's featured artist is @WarlordPete. You have seen his works in Resident Evil REANIMATED and Resident Evil 2 REANIMATED. He's been here on Newgrounds for a little over a year now. Check out his works below and give him a follow if you haven't yet!
The old guard was featured as Supporters of the Week in the past. There are new hosts and a new format going forward with the podcast. With a fresh new perspective for the podcast, and turning the Newgrounds Radio into more of a radio station. They are also all Newgrounds Supporters. With Droid and heyopc supporting the site since 2016 and Shal supporting since 2020, when the pandemic hit. Thank you for making Newgrounds members days and nights a little bit brighter.
