Halloween 2020

@ClockworkPixel and @FraserMcNiven are currently working on a project for this year's Halloween. It looks like the title is going to be The Magician & The Mother. I reached out to ClockworkPixel for further comment on the project. I was also given some exclusive character design to show off.

"We were inspired by the posters of magicians and illusionists of the early 20th century, Taking ideas conjured up from those images and mixing it with an exaggerated style from 90's animation.

Whenever we start a short we throw everything at it to see what sticks. With Newgrounds being a place to share ideas and get instant feedback, I always want to experiment with animation to see what does and doesn't work.

We also work full time as animators so being able to animate our own projects instead of commercial work means we can really let loose and really get crazy!

Seeing the reaction to last years 'The Chaos Signals' we want to step up our game in terms of animation and story telling and hope we can leave people pleasantly surprised when it's released in October."

@BasiatordeCoronatus has some ideas to help prevent cheating in contests. Such as rotating themes. It helps prevent musicians from using Works-In-Progress for their contest entry. @Troisnyx has brought up that metadata and other variables can be used to help prevent this or at least put it to a halt during the judging phase. @NekoMika has made notes that contests are handled on good faith for the competitors. Any sense of cheating will result in barring from future competitions is an idea tossed around as well.

Tom has announced that movies can be watched in the search function now and can be played through playlists. It is all a part of Ruffle which @Mike has been working on. An emulator for Flash so that all of Newgrounds history can be preserved when Flash his shutdown in December of this year.

Sorry if this issue seemed a little phoned in. It kind of was. Work has been hell these past two weeks, so I'm hoping to get back on track soon. I've actually scheduled two days off of work to hopefully have a lot of Newgrounds stuff done. In fact starting 12:00 AM EST on September 2nd, I will be celebrating my 14 Years on Newgrounds by spending 24 Hours on Newgrounds! I will also be doing a face reveal. In the meantime though, I am constantly on the grindstone and it is becoming a bit more difficult to manage my time efficiently. Sorry for the delays and absences. Shit just happens sometimes.

Happy Clock Day everybody! It's been 19 years since I decided to submit a single frame flash movie and Newgrounds would never be the same. I never imagined people would care about something like this nearly two decades later, but here we are! It's 2020 and there's plenty of clocks still making Clock movies, including one from myself! Since it's Clock Day, expect a lot of Clock movies in the portal from both new and old members. I don't have much else to say, except if you want to make animation, just make it! Today is Clock Day, so of course we have to celebrate the movie that started it all. If you can even call it a movie. It was just an off center static red letter B. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. It is amazing how this could cause so much outrage among some and hilarity among others back in 2001. It did though. It was uploaded on August 15, 2001. And since then we celebrate every August 15th as Clock Day in celebration of this movie and The Clock Crew!

Sorry People. I don't have an issue for you this Sunday. Work was quite exhausting last week. I didn't have time to work on the paper. Next week's issue is going to be huge though to account for everything from last week and this week. I have been formatting a different way of doing this paper.

Debuting back in 2006, this exploded in popularity. Based on a rumor that Mario had a subliminal Communist propaganda. Made by @Celarent, his skills would improve especially with his movie Look up at the sky.

The specific rumor was that Mario was designed to look like Joseph Stalin. Of course, I also heard that Dr. Robotnik was designed to look like Theodore Roosevelt, so is that propoganda too? There have been a lot of funny parodies that portray the Mario series in a much darker way. This is one of the best and suitably one of the most well known. What really works is how utterly gorgeous this animation is.

It may be the most realistic Mario I've ever seen. It's a bit hard to show a Mario cartoon when it's based on a sidescroller but you did it fairly well. I especially love how exaggerated the action is with all the blood and everything. I think my favorite part is seeing the sledge hammer hit the box. That really shows off the dimensions well."

I have been on this spinning blue orb for three decades now. Honestly I am surprised I have lived this long. It is wonderful to back at my writing and to truly find out what type of a writer I am. I have come to accept that I am not a creative writer, I just don't have the ability for it. I am a journalist. It was a long journey to find that out about myself, and I have Newgrounds to thank for that. I tend to highlight the new users and some unknown artists on here. "The history of Bytesize goes all the way back to the late 90s, when we ran a series of streaming "gag" cartoons on the front page of NG. At some point the cartoons went stale and the feature seemed obnoxious, so we scrapped it.

Almost a decade later, we reintroduced Bytesize with the big NG redesign launch of July, 2007. Only this time, it featured a much more expansive selection of cartoons by numerous artists from around the site. I decided it would be fun to give it a permanent place here in the Portal because it would also inevitably vanish from the front page."

The Tank Tribune will be covering all the events and happenings of the tournament in its own section starting next week! If you're a musician, now is the time for you to shine! The Wacom Tablet Giveaway

Back in October 2006, @TomFulp began a project to provide Wacom tablets to artists who had been drawing with nothing more than a mouse.
