When the movie Watchmen came out in 2009, @HappyHarry was commissioned to bring this cartoon intro for the Watchmen to life.

"I had come up with the idea because I believed it could be a big viral hit and because I'm a huge fan of the graphic novel and kids shows from 15-25 years ago, however this time round I decided I didn't want to sell the animation and so I maintained the rights out of choice. The experience was pretty damn tiresome, I churned the thing out in about 3 weeks, song and all. I'm glad people got a kick out of it."

How To Find your first paid project

I wanted to spend this part of Forum History to present a cautionary tale. Newgrounds is one of the most welcoming communities for creators on the Internet. There are a lot of freedoms and people to help you out on your journey to hone your skills, polish your craft, make friends, and build your reputation. It has helped launched many creators that go on to do amazing things outside of Newgrounds. @Egoraptor, the creator of the Awesome Series and renowned animator and voice actor. @Jenjamik, an artist and animator known for Link's Barrel Beat. He would go on to do the animation for the game Cuphead. @Jazza, artist, musician, animator, voice actor, and singer. Known for the PALADIN series here on Newgrounds. He would go on to make a name for himself on YouTube with his Draw With Jazza series. This is just a small fraction.

Each of these people would help other creators on the site. If there was a question in a respective forum. If they got a message. They would answer it. They would leave reviews and give honest feedback and help when and where they could. Many others on this site will do the same. All, without asking for any money. I say this because of this thread.

@mrjeffferson came onto Newgrounds with this thread. He was offering to help people find their first paid project and in return you would pay a small sign up fee. This seemed suspicious to a number of musicians on the site due to him having no music posted on Newgrounds and not much music posted outside of Newgrounds. Some pointed out that he came off more as an agent. He said he wasn't an agent, but was instead offering techniques that would help you. He was preaching himself as a mentor.

@ZipZipper was the first to dress down the OP. It was @samulis who would bury the OP. It is quite the wall of text so I will leave you with appropriate links. Take caution with you. We have people who wish to swoop into Newgrounds a gain a buck. Some just want your work for nothing so keep that mind with you as well. We are a community and we will help one another when and if we can.

Taking a break? (or not)

@midgetsausage may be taking a break due to school. He's also been a bit frail lately. Send some good vibes his way if you can.

Back in 2006 @Egoraptor graced the Internet with Metal Gear Awesome. Something he wanted to work on his voice acting and writing with. It came to inspire countless video game parodies and creators on Newgrounds and beyond.

Well when I was younger I had a lot of self confidence issues (still do), but I always thought the thing I liked to do wasn't what I could make a living out of. I built up enough courage to say, you know what, I think I can make it at this voice acting thing, so I started practicing and doing lines for peoples' cartoons on Newgrounds. I got really addicted to doing a (really bad) Snake impression and I did it for a handful of movies, but then it "dried up" so to speak and I didn't get anymore roles. But I wanted more roles, so I wrote my own script. I wrote it in about 4 or 5 minutes, just banging on the keyboard a bunch of nonsense of how I remember the first hour or so of the game went. I did all the voices and felt satisfied, but for some reason got Kira Buckland to do the voice of Meryl... I guess I just really wanted her to sound feminine and didn't want to use my own voice for her. I think having had her do the voices for me drove me to want to make something out of it, so I mixed it together and trudged through Flash since all my friends were using it. I had no fucking clue what I was doing, but I managed, I guess. I just drew it all bad on purpose 'cause I guess that was the "style" of it, or something. I took a lot of inspiration from Homestar Runner's "The Yellow Dello" because it had a lot of off-model stuff, and I liked that. I thought it was funny. It took me a long time to finish because I kept putting it off, but once I finished it, all my friends urged me to release it on Newgrounds. I was really against it, I thought it would get blammed. It didn't really stack up to any other work on the site I liked, and I thought my humor was a little bit esoteric. Like who the fuck else would think this is funny but me and maybe a handful of other people? But the next day I got an IM, I think it was from Anigen, who told me it was on frontpage, and I was like, uh, what?

Good Morning Newgrounds! For all of my fellow Americans out there I hope you had a fantastic 4th of July! I have been hard at work tweaking the redesign for the paper. It is still a work in progress so if there are some things that you like and don't like be sure to tell me. It is incredible that this paper has been around for an entire year already. Although some weeks have been missed, it has been a growing process. With that said if you're looking to beat the heat then spend it with Newgrounds! We have a Summer Animation Jam going on right now! It is different from others as being a tournament that harkens back to The Tournament of Flash Artists and The Newgrounds Annual Tournament of Animation (TOFA and NATA respectively). A Summer Game Jam is coming up with fundraising happening for it! RWappin is working on a new cartoon show called End Times. The Friday Night Funkin' Animation Jam winners have been announced. The Summer Writing Contest has begun. There is never a dull moment when you are on Newgrounds! More content than YouTube could ever provide to you, hell most of it you've probably seen on YouTube! This is actually an older interview with Tom. Back in 2001 when Newgrounds was barely five years old. Seeing the aspirations he had for the site going forward and where it is today over 25 years later is remarkable.

"End Times" Pitch

@RWappin is working on a full fledged animated show entitled End Times. He doesn't know how he is going to fund this project, he's mainly throwing it out there. It will be a show involving adult themes. Here's a small synopsis of the show to give you an idea.

"There is a sense of dread in the air as everyone seems to think they are in the End Times- for their own reasons. The forces of darkness are making their move towards total global enslavement, but those who see the “end” as just the edge between their comfort zone and the unknown, will ascend."

@BenTibbetts has recently moved to Texas where he is teaching music. If you are looking to use Ben's music unlicensed then you can become a subscriber to his site for $4 a month and have access to the Audio Store. There he has posted a solo harp piece entitled Cloud City.

There are many coveted awards here on Newgrounds. The Daily Feature, for the best flash of that day. The Weekly User's Choice, the best flash for the week. The Review Crew Pick, the highest rated flash for that week. To win all three is called a sweep or the Triple Crown. The first movie on Newgrounds to do this was an action movie called Kong by @Raz. It was also the last movie he would post on Newgrounds.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl site up

After the smash hit Super Smash Bros. Melee, the third entry in the series was highly anticipated. There was a site that announced updates for the game piece by piece including new stages, items, characters, and game modes. We look back on Brawl being a weak entry in its series, back then though we were all excited. This one game would a lot of content here on Newgrounds.

This reboot has been a labor of love. I didn't miss out on anything Newgrounds related, I just wasn't able to write properly. I could write by hand no problem. Typing was a different story. I am back in full force now so expect the 1 Year Anniversary of The Tank Tribune to be phenomenal! I intend on doing some work on the Patreon as well. I am thankful to my patrons for being so patient with me. This old soul isn't as up to date as he should be. I look forward to seeing all of you next week! I was hoping to put The Tank Tribune back on Sundays. Unfortunately due to the way certain things are timed here on Newgrounds and to ensure that I have everything covered I will have to keep The Tank Tribune on Mondays going forward.

I hope you like the new profile pic and new banner. I've been working on things under the hood and my wrist is back to 90% recovered. I will see all of you tomorrow morning at 6AM!

If you missed the last post INJURED, the short version is that I hurt my wrist and may be in the beginning stages of carpal tunnel. I've been getting used to writing with a wrist brace. I've been reading the past issues of The Tank Tribune and felt like there need to be some changes going forward. That's what I've been working on.

The end of May will be an ultimate edition of The Tank Tribune in its current format. Starting in June, there will be the launching of the redesign. I will be posting the layout to the redesign on my Patreon.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

I am sorry that there will not be an edition of The Tank Tribune this week. I will be working on a mega issue for next week to make up. Last Sunday I ended up in the hospital. I was slicing at work when my left hand and arm went numb. I pinched a nerve in my left wrist. I was diagnosed with beginning stages of carpal tunnel. I have to follow up with a hand doctor to see where I go from there. Right now I am in a wrist brace so typing and work has been hell. Last night I ended up in a great deal of pain in two occasions and broke two pens with my right hand to cope with the pain.

I was not able to work on the paper last week like usual. I wasn't able to work on any of my writings sadly. I apologize immensely. There will be a new issue next week to start off the month of May. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

In the meantime, if you can please Support Newgrounds. Without Newgrounds there is no Tank Tribune or any of the fun stuff you have come to love here on the site.

Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game by Funkin Crew

FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' launched Week 7 with the TANKMEN! It was so popular that Newgrounds crashed. A full game is looking to be in development with fundraising on Kickstarter. The goal was $60,000 which it surpassed it ten fold with over $700,000 pledged.

The Push For Pico Day!

@Galloglasses came up with the idea to celebrate one of Newgrounds mascots. The creation of Tom Fulp, Pico. Pico is to Newgrounds what Mickey Mouse is to Disney. Pico Day is an important holiday here on Newgrounds. A celebration of Pico and his friends, the TANKMEN, and other Newgrounds iconic characters. This was an idea back in 2005. We have celebrated Pico Day since then.

Work has been hell the past few days. Sunday while I was slicing I had numbness in my left hand that went through my arm. My heart started doing crazy stuff and I had trouble breathing. I pinched a nerve in my wrist which messed with blood flow and through my system out of whack. The doctor believes I am in the beginning stages of carpal tunnel syndrome. I am currently wearing a wrist brace with a thumb stint in it and I have to follow up with a doctor going forward. I am resting my wrist as much as possible going forward so please be patient with my writings going forward. A LOOK BACK AT THREADS OF THE PAST

Wii Virtual Console Thread 2.0

When the Nintendo Wii was selling like hotcakes, one of the best features on it was the Virtual Console. You could buy old NES, SNES, and N64 games on it for sure. There were also Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Arcade, and TurboGrafx-16 games on it as well. A lot of these games you could experience for the first time! @The-Great-One made a Wii Virtual Console thread in the past. It was updated though with this revival thread to include suggested titles, an Editor's Pick, and when the Nintendo 3DS released to highlight the Virtual Console games on it which were handheld titles for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Game Gear as well! It lasted a long time! Sadly the Virtual Console is no more and the Nintendo Switch with the NES Classic and SNES Classic is nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to what its predecessor did.

I've been wanting to do an Evening Edition for quite a long time now. I have had that Evening Edition header in my folder for quite sometime now. I apologize for the other headers appearance.
