Great news! Things have been going better for me. Memory issues are still a problem, but not as bad as they were. I've been recovering slowly. The 100th Issue will be launching on July 7th! If you're a patron on my Patreon then it will be on July 6th!
Going forward, the edition will be in .PDF format that you can download through my Patreon. As a sign of good faith, this edition will be free to ALL PATRONS! After that, only those in the Producer Tier will receive this perk. Supporter tier will still get Upcoming Composers, Research Papers, and now Upcoming on Featured Artists!
I will also be cleaning up a lot of the Playlists on The Tank Tribune. With the new Playlist features it is high time that is done.
Oh and one more thing. If you're going to be at the Southeast Game Exchange this weekend, I'll be there reporting on the event! I'll be the guy in the Newgrounds T-Shirt next to the long-haired stud taking pictures!
It's been a couple of months. To make a long story short, I've been battling memory issues and have had some financial troubles as of late. Hospital bills will do that to you. I've been needing to focus more of my energy towards my day job to cover those bills. I've also been dealing with short term memory loss as of late. To where things have been, foggy. I'll be working on something and then within an hour or two I would have completely forgotten what I did. It's been a struggle, and things have been improving as of late. I've popped into the site to check in on the Treasure Hunt and see any new updates. That's been about it though.
Between working my day job and my memory, I've simply been trying to rest. Rest assured, my long term memory is still great, just the short term is what has been taking its toll. I hope to be back on Newgrounds here soon. I don't know when soon might be though.
Sorry for the delay with the 100th Issue of The Tank Tribune. I've been working on a lot of different things, plus allergy season has completely messed with my sinuses and throat due to mucus. The issue will be coming out later this week, hopefully by Tuesday.
Good Morning Newgrounds! Don’t panic by the title, this is just the last issue with only two digits, with next week being Issue NO. 100. That will be a grand time to celebrate. I remember back during The Interviewer when I hit the 100th Interview. Difference is that I had that planned out for a while, with a subsequent backup plan. I haven’t had much time to think about what the 100th issue for The Tank Tribune would be or what I should even do for it! I’m sure I’ll think of something, I mean I got six days right? Anyways… the Flash Forward Jam is currently underway, with the Treasure Hunt making its return soon! We are celebrating everything Flash related during this jam! Johnny Rocketfingers is making another appearance in the Tribune. Luis is back from Lithuania. The Tank Tribune is shilling Newgrounds merch. Without further ado, here are the hip happenings on Newgrounds!
Newgrounds works off of the LAMP architecture (Linux, Apache, MariaDB and PHP). The code has been updated due to depreciation. If you spot any bugs or having any trouble with parts of the site, update your findings in the thread or contact Tom. You can also look at Newgrounds Status Page to see how it’s running.
Since 2016 @EricMatyas has been sharing music and sound effects with Newgrounds. He’s still sharing his works today for people to use in movies and games. With Flash Forward Jam underway, it might not be a bad idea to take a look. If you can donate to his works, he would surely appreciate it.
This week’s featured artist is @horrorhare. He’s an artist whose works range from stylistic, incredible shading, and… gay. He is currently going to school of Visual Arts, some of the movies he’s shown there are here on Newgrounds! I WUZ A TEENAGE SERIAL KILLER?! won a Daily 4th Place and The Snow Man won a Daily 2nd Place. Check out his works below!
@RF-SLAM has recently updated his comic NIHILGUNZ. He has put a lot of work into it and wants you to check it out! You can also support his works on Patreon.
There are also more freebies, from drums, to guitar, Metal production samples, and more! Check this out and all of ADR3-N’s freebie lists. Join their Ko-fi and Patreon if you appreciate all the samples!
@NoodlesBozeta has been talking about their latest series Stella My Angel and Murder School currently in development. They’re looking for support towards their works. Check out the pilot to Stella My Angel below!

Clock Crew member @ShrimpClock has been a part of a reanimation collab for the game Johnny Rocketfingers, which recently turned 20 years old. Check out the trailer below and play Johnny Rocketfingers if you haven’t yet! You can also join in on this project through Discord!
With Flash Forward Jam going on, we’re taking a look back at flash animators of the past. Today is @PuffballsUnited. PuffballsUnited was here to talk about the Henry Stickmin games, his music, and the project that he was working on that would become Among Us.
@TheWeebl is best known on the site for badger ver.1, Magical Trevor, and Do you have a waffle. This is just a small sample of the music videos that TheWeebl has graced Newgrounds with. Since the Sunday Console is looking at games from 2009, we’re going to take a look at one of TheWeebl’s entries from 2009. This week being Get on My Horse. Original songs and music videos are still a staple here on Newgrounds. Animators such as TheWeebl laid the groundwork early on and maintained it throughout the years!
@Jackho has started the Newgrounds Reading Challenge once again. For this year’s challenge, The Tank Tribune will be featuring book recommendations and reviews from the members of this challenge. This week we look at what @Atlas has read back in January. Remainder by Tom McCarthy.
“This is one of the oddest books I have ever read. The prose is simple in a good way and flows with ease, which helps keep you focused. This story took me on a long voyage that had me questioning everything in the book and made me hyper-aware of trivial everyday things. Without spoiling anything, I'd recommend anybody looking for an awkward, unique, and very British at times story, to read this.”
@Luis got back from one of his many random trips around the world. This time he was in Lithuania. There are plenty of pictures from this trip. It’s back to work for Luis, with his next stop being in Macedonia.
BIRTHDAYS
If you want your birthday added here, leave a comment below and be put on The Tank Tribune calendar!
@turtlemun celebrated their birthday last week! They are on a big trip! Check out their works below and wish them a Happy Birthday!
@M0THWING celebrated their 18th birthday recently. They’re working on a new music cover. They’re also an artist on the site. Check out their works below!
I’ll make it brief here, since I am a bit exhausted to tell you the truth. I should book some vacation time for myself going forward. Fortunately that may become a reality next week. I’ll see you all for the 100th Issue!
The Tank Tribune is a part of Dohn's Desk Productions
Good Morning Newgrounds! First off, shout out to the newest patron on my Patreon in the Producer tier @VelvetHeartSyndicate! Welcome to the Desk! There are multiple collaborations happening all over Newgrounds, with the winner of Best Game being the ART GALLERY COLLAB. The Flash Forward Jam is underway, and The Tank Tribune is celebrating everything about Flash! The Best of January have been announced! Some fun birthday celebrations! A removal of a user’s appendix. Using TikTok to garner an audience. This is just a small sample of last week! Without further ado, here are the hip happenings of Newgrounds!
@FutureCopLGF has made a video reviewing all of the games nominated for Best of January. He has the games ranked as well in his news post for you to read. You can watch the video below!
This week’s featured artist is @LiquidFreakStudios. They recently lost access to their account, but now they're back on Newgrounds! Check out their works below!
@LordAndiso has been hard at work on a new album after recovering from appendix surgery. The album will be called Far Away. It focuses on being away from home and the feelings about it. The release date is looking to be in March.
@Epifon311 has recently moved. The move has been in the process for two years, which is why they have been absent on Newgrounds. They have posted two songs. One that was previously on YouTube called Our Fire. The second song is a love song entitled Heartstruck. Check those out!
@Anonymous-Frog has shared a new music collaboration. The theme is making songs composing mostly of sine waves. A sine wave is this if you were curious. You can only use them in different pitches or subtle tones. Below is the guidelines for the collab. You can join the Discord here. Any questions you can message Anonymous-Frog here.
MAIN GUIDELINE
1.Main Rule: The majority of the song should largely consist of sine waves. Keep all other instruments to a minimum.
(some drums or harsher-toned instruments for example, can be used as a balance, or you could use nothing else)
Furthermore, the sines themselves can be modified in subtle ways (i.e. pitch reverb, distortion, filters, etc.)
2.Your song can otherwise be in any genre. Soft classical compositions, fast-paced techno, you name it!
3.I want to keep it E-Rated, so avoid explicit language/words.
4.Samples, synthesizers, VSTs, trackers, DAWs, Beepbox, etc., if it supports sine waves, you can use it.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Submission Length: 1-8 minutes
You can make as many submissions as you want, provided they all total 8 maximum.
Submit a .WAV, .FLAC, or other high quality audio format (as long as it’s not crispy potato fries).
Share the file or private download link in either my DMS or in the Discord.
Deadline: May 1st
RELEASE GUIDELINES
You can publicly release your submission on Newgrounds provided you:
Wait until the collab releases, or sometime around the deadline. Let me know beforehand. Any earlier and you may need official confirmation.
Link to either the NGAP Collab Center or if applicable, the finished collab on NG (optional).
@i9incher has been posting his works on TikTok and through that process has increased his followers on Spotify. With Universal Music Group pulling over 3 million songs from the platform, this is a chance for the small Indie artists and musicians to strike while the iron is hot. He has given a detailed analysis of his growth over the past month. He recommends this for musicians on Newgrounds looking to get their names and accounts out there. Read the news post for the full details.
@ArtistGamerGal has made her return to Newgrounds and has become part of the Games Portal now here on Newgrounds with her game Candle in the Woods. It has been featured on the Frontpage and won the Daily 3rd Place already! If you haven’t played it yet, check it out now!
@LoneConstruct has an album of 1,300 Foley samples entitled I AM STRUGGLING TO PAY MY RENT. All the sounds in it are categorized by sound, for metal, water, plastic, etc. You can help out LoneConstruct and get access to a lot of sound effects for only $25! You can buy it on itch.io right now!
@marbardan82 is working on an Indie platformer with art from Newgrounds users and @LuckoDaStars. The demo is looking to be launched in 2026. The working title for the game is Panic Attack. It is an action puzzle game taking inspiration from Risky Challenge. The team is currently looking for programmers who are 18+. It will be free to play on Newgrounds and itch.io. You can message marbardan82 if you’re interested or have questions.
@TurboYid is looking for a voice actor who can do impressions of Jerry, George, and Kramer from the show Seinfeld. It is a paid job with a short script. If you’re interested, message TurboYid. Check out his works below for reference.
@EggysGames is looking to boost his social media presence and wants you to follow him on all of the things! Follow him everywhere your E-Mail is present! Check out some of his games here on Newgrounds!
With Flash Forward Jam going on, we’re taking a look back at flash animators of the past. Today is @TmsT. An Albino Black Sheep alumni who would take Newgrounds by storm. Hitting the Triple Crown for three flash movies, AMIG0, TmsT's "Spy & Pyro", and Avada Kedavra. Check out some of his works below!
Last Thursday, @shock-value’s Interactive Buddy would celebrate 19 years on Newgrounds, and it is still a classic to this game. During the Assassin Era of Newgrounds, this was definitely a highlight on the site. A little buddy who you could play catch with, tickle, and jam to with a radio. You could also beat the crap out of him, and apply a skin to beat up celebrity figures of the time period. It serves as a time capsule and one of Newgrounds finest games!
@Jackho has started the Newgrounds Reading Challenge once again. For this year’s challenge, The Tank Tribune will be featuring book recommendations and reviews from the members of this challenge. This week we look at what @Malachy has been listening to, A Wizard's Guide To Defensive Baking by T. Kingfisher. Here is his review below.
“I really liked Nettle & Bone so I queued up the audiobook of another T.Kingfisher book to listen to with the wife in the car. We enjoyed it. There was some absurd humor in a 14-year-old baker being the last hope of a city about to be attacked by an invading army. Mona has to use her only magical skill she has, power over baked goods, to somehow save everyone she cares about.”
@EpithetSoup has celebrated their 27th Birthday with an update on where they’ve been. Work has taken them away from Newgrounds, plus their learning more about drawing and color theory to find a style that works for them. Check out their works below!
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. This week we’re looking at some flash games from 2006 to help celebrate the Flash Forward Jam!
Thank you to all of my readers. Last week I was not able to be on the site as much as I would have liked due to fighting a cold. I am hoping to keep The Tank Tribune at this pace, because March is going to be an incredibly busy month for me going forward. In the meantime, I will be keeping each issue up on Sundays and looking to fully revive my other projects.
The Tank Tribune is a part of Dohn's Desk Productions
Good Morning Newgrounds! At least I hope it has been for all of you. I have been fighting a cold all week. The time I get to spend working on Newgrounds has been minimal between my day job and drinking NyQuil. I swear, with me getting sick each year NyQuil should be sponsoring this paper at this point. My apologies for the limited issue this week, I am feeling better though.
Adobe alongside multiple browsers cut support for Flash. Meaning that a lot of Flash movies and games would no longer run online. Through Newgrounds member @mike, development on the Flash emulator Ruffle would begin. You can read the progress Ruffle has made in the preservation of Flash on Newgrounds and throughout the Internet in their 2023 Review.
To celebrate the legacy of Flash, Newgrounds hosts the Flash Forward Jam. Where your goal is to make a Flash Game or Flash Movie with Interactive Elements. Below are the requirements for the jam. You can also check out the past Flash Forward Jams below!
JAM REQUIREMENTS
Make a game or interactive movie with Flash. Interactive movies include animation collabs with cool menu systems, or something with decisions / alternate endings.
Confirm it works via Ruffle before publishing. You will see a “Test with Ruffle” link on your preview page. Ruffle is what we use to run Flash on NG without the Flash plugin.
Please avoid the use of copyrighted character and unlicensed commercial music. We love it when people work with artists from the Audio Portal and also manage an additional list of music resources.
Publish on NG by end of day April 21st with the “Flash-Forward-2024” tag.
There was an error in the last issue of The Tank Tribune. February 2nd was not the deadline for the Pokemon Mystery Lovers Collab, but a Soft Deadline. The hard deadline is February 10th, that’s this coming Saturday! This deadline is so that the collab can be launched to Newgrounds on Valentine’s Day. Thank you to collab organizer @DioShiba for pointing this out to The Tank Tribune!
@Frosty is hosting a collab all about bugs. The goal is to make an insect in pixel art form that will move about in a little terrarium that you can look at in an interactive museum style. Below are the guidelines for this collaboration.
GUIDELINES
1.Create an original pixel art bug sprite in four directions (Front, Back, Left, and Right) that will go into a terrarium, and be displayed in a walkable museum. (PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT A PRE-EXISTING CHARACTER, OR AT LEAST DO A “LEGALLY DISTINCT” PARODY OF SAID CHARACTER)
2.Individual sprite must be 8x8 minimum, and 64x64 maximum size (SPRITE SHEET CAN BE LARGER)
3.The sprite must be SAFE FOR WORK (SFW)
4.The sprite must be formatted into a sprite sheet evenly)
5.Write the name of the bug and a short description of flavor text in this format:
//USERNAME//BUG NAME//DESCRIPTION
6.The rules and guidelines for creating a terrarium: custom environments must be either 96x112 for small rooms, or 192x112 for large rooms.
To submit your entry and to be updated join the Collab Discord Server. The deadline for this collab is March 8th, that’s over a month away. Follow the news post for more information and questions.

This week’s featured artist is @ArnoldDoodle. They’ve been on the site since July. They’ve been active in the Art Forum. Check out their works below and give them a follow.
@Sabtastic has recently opened a shop on Etsy! The shop is only open for one to two weeks semi-annually due to her selling at conventions, artist alleys, and in person markets. If you want to know what conventions she will be attending, follow her here on Newgrounds and her other social media platforms! Check out what you can find in her shop below!
Making his return to The Interviewer, the creator of Tarboy and NOX. One of Newgrounds master animators. @JamesLee!
To celebrate the legacy of Flash, it is time to look back at some of the Newgrounds games and movies that helped build Newgrounds. With @RepriseAgain hosting the South Park Collab to celebrate this game’s anniversary, I felt it necessary to highlight it for this week’s Flash Portal History. This game has a spiritual successor on Steam that you can play called Repella Fella! It goes to show how far Flash has taken many animators and developers have not only gotten their start with Flash, but has grown with it throughout the years.
@Jackho has started the Newgrounds Reading Challenge once again. For this year’s challenge, The Tank Tribune will be featuring book recommendations and reviews from the members of this challenge. January has come to an end and we’re in the month of February. Here are the goals numbers for January!
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. This week we’re looking at the entries from the past Flash Forward Jams.
Thank you all again for reading The Tank Tribune. All the new readers that have joined. I am again sorry for the shorter issue. After I’m done writing this, it is time for NyQuil, YouTube, and then bed. I hope you all have a fantastic morning! See you next week!
The Tank Tribune is a part of Dohn's Desk Productions
Good Morning Newgrounds! Last week, The Tank Tribune was featured on the Frontpage for the first time! Therefore we have a lot of new readers to the paper! For the new readers, Welcome to The Tank Tribune! There have been periods in my life where I had to step away from Newgrounds and the Internet as a whole. During my absences, I would miss out on a lot of the new movies, games, contests, jams, etc. Tom’s news posts on the NG News Forum, didn’t seem to have a lot of space to cover a lot on the site. I had already been working on The Interviewer here on Newgrounds for over ten years, I figured I would make a Newgrounds newspaper. This idea was inspired by Hermitcraft’s Weekly Recap and @Graeme’s YouTube series This Week on Newgrounds. The goal, to recap the previous week’s events and upcoming events. I also want to highlight different artists and musicians who have few followers, to gather news from those who have gone overlooked, or events that Tom probably missed. I feel I have done a pretty good job on this front and I’m always looking to improve this paper going forward. I thank all of the new readers who have joined! Now without further ado, here are the hip happenings on Newgrounds!
Last Tuesday was Pixel Day! There were a lot of great entries for this year’s Pixel Day! We had entries from @NerRavine, @gatekid3, @BluePinGames, and @AlbeGian. The banner you see was made by @donpeppi. The 9th Annual Pixel Day went off with a success!
With Pixel Day come and gone, the Flash Forward Jam is coming up next! When Adobe cut off support for Macromedia Flash, Newgrounds decided to start a contest to keep the legacy of Flash alive. The goal is to make a Flash Game or Flash Movie with Interactive Elements. You can check out last year’s entries here.
@YendorNG has some sad news for animators. AnimateArchive has removed a lot of its Flash legacy programs due to Adobe implementing its copyright on said programs to remove the installer for them. Here is the full message from AnimateArchive.
A message to AnimateArchive users:
Adobe has recently begun taking measures to shut down Animate Archive. While they are technically within their legal rights, this will have a devastating effect on our community. As of today, none of the links on the archive work.
It saddens me to admit that the future of the archive is uncertain. Users deserve accessible, user-friendly, and affordable software, but Adobe's shift towards subscription models has moved away from these principles.
Subscription-based models often lead to less efficient development and higher prices. They allow companies to stop focusing on making the best tools they can, and instead focus on services and retention rates. In contrast, platforms like Steam by Valve, Blender by The Blender Foundation, and other user-first initiatives thrive because they put user needs and affordable access first.
Hell, much of today's technology owes its existence to open-source software and the dedicated individuals behind it. Without their contributions, the tech landscape, as well as the greedy corporations that profit from it, would be vastly different. It's the individuals, not the corporations, who genuinely care about delivering quality and accessible tools. They are the true backbone of our digital advancements.
I am sadly only one person. I often joke about what 1000 of me could do, but it's true. Projects like Animate Archive take time to cultivate and build, and that can be very difficult to balance with a full-time job. While I'll continue to do what I can, as I love Flash and believe it's one of the best multimedia tools around, I encourage everyone to look towards and support alternatives built by companies and individuals that care about their users.
This is why the preservation of Flash and the Flash Forward Jam are both important. If you want to help keep the legacy of Flash alive, then consider donating to Newgrounds and Ruffle.
@AED-4 has announced the Newgrounds Music Triathlon. There is a lot going on in this contest, so if you want the full details, follow the link in the picture above to go to the news post. The Tank Tribune will provide a primer below.
Much like a real triathlon, the goal is for composers to test their skills and abilities through three phases, each lasting two weeks. The contest is already underway with Phase 1 being The Reclaimed Land and the challenge being Three Track Limitation. More information on Phase 1 can be found in the Discussion Thread.
To enter the contest, join the Newgrounds Audio Pub Discord Server. You can team up with one other person for this contest, you also don’t have to compete in each phase. You must also not submit your song publicly to Newgrounds. It must be posted on a file sharing site or your Dumping Grounds on Newgrounds, then a link is sent to AED-4. The judging process will also work differently. For all of the guidelines for submission and voting can be seen in the news post. Below is the calendar for the triathlon.

@Macabre1031 has released the latest episode of NECRO-NANCY 64 entitled Spooky House. This is the second episode of this series, with its premiere NECRO-NANCY 64: Haunted VHSdebuting on Newgrounds almost one year ago. If you’re a fan of spooky stuff, Nintendo 64 stuff, or just a great laugh, then you need to check this series out!
@Graeme, better known as 2 Left Thumbs on YouTube, has made a list of the ten best games on Newgrounds! He has also given some news on the William & Sly remasterings now available on Steam! There is also news on the newest William & Sly game.
This week’s featured artist is @JukeIncorporated. His use of color and shading is absolutely beautiful. The piece below that he commissioned for his dad is an incredible example of his works! Check out his works below and give him a follow!
@ZaneLittle has released his latest game entitled Goober Game here on Newgrounds! It received the Daily Feature award and has been Frontpaged. It is a puzzle falling game where goobers combine together to make bigger goobers. Just don't overfill your screen with goobers!
@UnlitColorhas released a new developer log for their project Nosun. It’s a project that has been three years in the making. He has also gone into how his level design works.
@Toniestbook has been keeping an art portfolio recently and is wondering what are the best things to keep in an art portfolio, in case he’s looking to get a job in animation/design. @Tenebrare has offered some great advice in the thread. If you’re an artist who has done work outside of Newgrounds then share your thoughts and wisdom.
“Portfolio should be always tailored for the client you try to bait in. This is why portfolio should never be public and assembled by case by cases basis for a particular goal in mind.”
@TheBestBroster is celebrating hitting 100 Followers and has some news to go along with the occasion. His vision is to put a lot of work into his art. He’s also been taking antidepressants, and unfortunately has contracted COVID-19. He’s also working on an entry in the Newgrounds Valentine's Day Art Collab. Check out his works below and give him a follow!
@Crysstal712 has released a brand new album entitled LATEWAVE. A collection of experimental songs that he’s proud of. Genres range from Experimental, to Dance, and even some Funk. Check it out!
@ChazDude has released his new comic, POTATOMAN: REALM OF RYKSAW which you can read right now by clicking here! Be sure to follow ChazDude on Patreon or Commission some work from him!
@MYYA is a composer who joined Newgrounds back in 2018. At the suggestion of her friends, she has released a Ko-fi so you can support her works! Check out some of her music below!
Making his return to The Interviewer, the creator of Tarboy and NOX. One of Newgrounds master animators. @JamesLee!
With another Pixel Day come and gone, here is a look back to one of the entries in the first Pixel Day. Super Dangerous Dungeons won 2nd Place on the first Pixel Day and was given to us by @AdventureIslands and music by @KungFuFurby. This wasn’t the first game of its kind by AdventureIslands. He would give us Tiny Dangerous Dungeons, Steam Rogue GB, and Duke Dashington, which would later be remastered.
@Jackho has started the Newgrounds Reading Challenge once again. For this year’s challenge, The Tank Tribune will be featuring book recommendations and reviews from the members of this challenge. This week’s book comes from @Atlas. Sourdough Culture: A History of Bread Making from Ancient to Modern Bakers by Eric Pallant. It studies the origins of sourdough and baking, which includes stories and recipes for bread and pancakes all around the world. Eric Pallant is also Atlas’ college professor.
@Thetageist is wondering what video game music you’ve been listening to. She’s been listening to Boombox 5 from Lethal Company, General Release from Buckshot Roulette, The Part Where He Kills You from Portal 2, and some various battle themes from Terraria. @Drazah is listening to The Ratchet & Clank soundtrack. @Void is listening to The Binding of Isacc soundtrack. Share some of the video game songs you’re listening to.
@Quinnfinity3 has uncovered a Newgrounds Mystery. Every Newgrounds entry for each Portal contains an ID number. Even submissions that have been BLAMMED include their own ID number. However, there is no submission available for ID number 666. It’s not due to copyright music, it’s been this way since 2008, that can be seen using the Wayback Machine. It is quite the mystery.
@fe3l1ngsk1lledd is curious at what time people go to sleep and wake up. What is your nighttime routine and your morning routine? fe3l1ngsk1lledd is typically awake around 7AM and goes to bed around 10PM.
BIRTHDAYS
These are the recent birthdays here on Newgrounds! If you want your birthday here, share your birthday in the comments below.
@X3LL3Ncelebrated his 22nd birthday recently with some updates. He’s almost done with college and may be working in the game development scene going forward. He’s thankful to all of the people on Newgrounds who have helped him come out of his shell. Check out some of his music below!
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. This week we’re looking at the Best Game winners for Pixel Days 2019-2023!
I haven’t written a large issue of The Tank Tribune in quite a while. Getting my work back in order has been liberating. Having the support of Tom and a lot of Newgrounds members is wonderful. I am really thankful that The Tank Tribune was shared on the Frontpage. The latest interview with James Lee was also shared, so that makes both of my biggest projects to hit the Frontpage. It is rare to be a writer and be featured on the Frontpage, I hope this opens the doors for other writers to be a part of the world’s biggest refrigerator. Rex was exceptionally proud of me, that warms my heart. Thank you to all of my newest readers and my patrons on Patreon.

Good Morning Newgrounds! If you missed out on yesterday's post, this issue was posted yesterday through my Patreon for those in the Producer Tier! Shout out to @Aalasteir and @TomFulp for becoming Producers! Now it is available here on Newgrounds, every Sunday like normal. Newgrounds is now on the 2-Factor Authorization login, which means you need to be able to login to your E-Mail as well to login to your account. Make sure the password for your Newgrounds and your E-Mail are not the same. They need to be different. Pixel Day is in two days! There are two collaborations going on right now. One for composers and the other for composers, voice actors, and writers. wamyremy is still here! TheGorondorf is back! All of this and more! Without further ado, here are the hip happenings on Newgrounds!
For those logging in to Newgrounds, you are having to put in a code now through your E-Mail. This is normal and although there have been some bugs, it appears to be working fine. If you have found any bugs then you can E-Mail Newgrounds Support for help.
The 9th Annual Pixel Day is this Tuesday! If you haven’t finished your entry for Pixel Day now would be the time for those finishing touches. If you haven’t started something and want to push yourself for an entry, then go for it! Remember to tag your entry with the "pixelday2024" tag. If your entry is making its world premiere on Newgrounds then tag it with the "pixelday2024-compo". If you have posted it outside of Newgrounds, just use the normal "pixelday2024" tag. Check out previous Pixel Days below!
This week’s featured artist is @keik-keik. He’s been on the site for three years now. His inspirations include Tex Avery, Hayao Miyazaki, Andy Warhol, and Takashi Murakami, just to name a few. He’s currently on a break due to burnout. Check out his works below.
@Waterflame has setup a mailing list for those who want to stay up-to-date on new tracks, collaborations, merchandise, sneak peeks, and more! Just follow this link and you will be one of the first to know!
@ProsciuttoMan, @Paytonio, @Dry, and @Roverkibb, were looking back at ProsciuttoMan’s game portfolio and realized how his game Gate of Hades has become outdated over the years. His goal is to reimagine the game. Then a realization of Pixel Day coming up, they have decided to remake the game with the following. He will also be working with @PostElvis again for this project.
A brand new, completely original soundtrack
Completely reimagined character designs and sprites: made to give off the feel of an old Sega Genesis game
12 unique levels set in 6 distinct worlds
Somewhere between 4 and 6 new enemies with unique behavior, depending on how you count things
Some much-needed visual feedback for players to really sell enemies dying
@TeffyD is looking to make a soundtrack for a fake Newgrounds Mall. The goal is to make “mall music” or muzak. He has supplied a playlist of mall music as an example. Below is information on this collaboration.
How do I join/submit?
I'll try to make it as easy as possible, so if you wanna join all you gotta do is DM me your track via Dropbox, WeTransfer or Google Drive, You don't need to join a server specifically for this project. Once the collab is finished and released you can just post it whenever you want, I'll be combining them all into one long track with some background stuff for added ambience.
If you want to collaborate with others or need help with something I recommend joining the NGAP Collab Center Discord Server: (Link)
REQUIREMENTS:
To reiterate, think about what "Mall Music/Elevator Music/Muzak" means to you, and make it a song.
Your track must be no longer than 3 minutes and 30 seconds. In general Muzak is typically pretty short, probably 2:30 to 3 minutes. it focuses on catchiness and trying blend into the noise if that makes sense.
Track must be a 16-bit WAV File format. I know Newgrounds only allows MP3s so it sounds pointless, but its for mixing sake.
After the collab is released and you want to post your single to NG, tag with "NG-Mall-Collab". It's so I can add it to a playlist.
Nothing A-rated. I don't know how you'd do that but thought I'd just state it now.
That's it.
Follow the thread for additional information and questions. The deadline is February 15th.
@JAMRIOT and @AhWham are teaming up to host a collaboration for bedtime stories. Teams must consist of a writer, a narrator, and a composer. Someone to write the bedtime story, someone to read the bedtime story, and a composer to make the backing track of a bedtime story. The goal of your piece to be something chill and relaxed to go to sleep to. If you’re having trouble finding teammates, check out The Jamcave for writers and NGAP Collab Center for narrators and musicians.
@Bosa has released a brand new track. Going back to a style he was known for when he started out on the site. A combination of country, Celtic, and orchestral. Give it a listen and leave a review!
All the way back in 2008, @Kianis would bring us a game with a simple objective. Get to the end of the level and burn the rope to defeat the Grinning Colossus. Upon winning, you’re treated to one of the greatest credits songs on Newgrounds by @Reachground. It is one of Newgrounds biggest games to never win a Portal award and to be a part of Flash Portal History 2008. If you haven’t played this classic, it is an absolute must!
@Jackho has started the Newgrounds Reading Challenge once again. For this year’s challenge, The Tank Tribune will be featuring book recommendations and reviews from the members of this challenge. This week’s book comes from @TecNoir. His girlfriend got him books on historical figures. The first one he read is The Life and Times of King Arthurby Mike Ashley.
Artist @LeCherlok is looking to make a fan game based on the game OFF. He’s looking for ideas on making an RPG for his game. If you have any ideas and/or a fan of the OFF series, then please share them with him.
One of our newest users @MollyHC joined Newgrounds last week. They have posted their first movie to the Portal, Zenibeasts: Kaiju Cutie. They celebrated their entry reaching 1,000 views. Now at the time of writing this it is over 2,000 views, has been Frontpaged, and has won the Daily 3rd Place award. Congratulations MollyHC!
@NitroOrient has posed a curious question. They want to know what their account smells like. @someaveragechap thinks it smells like citrus, @TheBestBroster thinks it smells like nitrous oxide, and @Hexamak says it gives off a sand scent. Stop by NitroOrient’s account and give it a good whiff!
@TheGorondorf has quit his teaching job of 12 years due to burnout. He’s opened his commissions for artwork. Check out his pixel art below! He’s also back to making games again. The next game to come out is Plomo. A short experience for TheGorondorf to get back into the swing of things. Check out his games below as well! Both have been Frontpaged in the past!
@PapoFuradoPA has recently celebrated being on the site for 10 years! He is looking to collab with new musicians here on Newgrounds! If you’re interested, check out his music below!
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. This week we’re taking a look at some pixel games from the past. Some of these are pretty dark, so bear that in mind when you decide to play them.
So... I got drunk last night. Which came into affect after Rex left thankfully. I don't remember much about the later half of that night, my friends are going to have to recap me on that. I drank some heavy whiskey, I remember that. Thankfully I'm not one to get hangovers, therefore I was able to get this paper out to you this morning. Thank you all for your support for me over the years. I hope you all have a fantastic Sunday morning!

Good Morning Newgrounds! If you're reading this and you're one of my patrons on Patreon in the Producer Tier, then great news! You can go read the latest issue of The Tank Tribune RIGHT NOW before it is posted here Sunday morning! I'm still working on a lot of technical aspects for going forward on this idea, but right now it's there to read!
Good Morning Newgrounds! It is amazing to me how many people have been here on the site for five, ten, even twenty years! With Newgrounds turning 30 Years Old next year! Imagine that if you will. A website, a content website, that has been around for 30 years. Newgrounds has survived the Dot Com Bubble, the Adpocalypse that affected YouTube and spread throughout the rest of the Internet, and every bit of controversy that came before it. This site, the people here, it is truly a magical place. If you're a Newgrounds member with social media outside the site, you should be sharing anything and everything with people outside it. All the movies, the games, the music, and the artwork! Support Newgrounds in any way you can. I have two prints from artists here on the site hanging up in my house. I use music from the site for my Dungeons & Dragons campaign for my friends. I share some funny movies with people outside. I see the growth of game developers and can tell people that the creators of said indie game came from Newgrounds. Like I said, the site will be turning 30 Years Old next year. It is time now to begin the celebration for that upcoming event! With further ado, here are the hip happenings of Newgrounds!
@SplatterDash and I are looking to fill vacancies for judges for this year's Treasure Hunt! If you don't know what the Treasure Hunt is, here's a primer. The goal is to find underrated gems on Newgrounds in all four Portals. Movies, Games, Audio, and Art. These cannot have been on the Frontpage or win won one of the Awards on the site for the previous calendar year, this being 2023. You have one week to look for treasure. There will be judges for each Portal, whose job it is to rate them. The best Treasure in each Portal is announced! A Prize Pool is collected during this time, which is divided between the four Portals. It is split between the person who found the Treasure and the person who created the Treasure. You have four chances to win with entries from each Portal.
Now, the Treasure Hunt has not begun yet, so don't go unearthing anything right now. As of right now, SplatterDash and I are looking for judges. DO NOT MESSAGE US. If you're interested in being a judge, simply leave a comment in the comments section below. If you have a suggestion for someone who might want to be a judge, share this news post with them so they may comment on it if it piques their interest.
Each month Newgrounds selects one of its voters on submissions and awards them honorary Supporter status.
This week’s featured artist is @SunSmog. He’s been on the site since 2017. He’s been active in both the Art Portal and Movie Portal. He won a Daily 5th Place for The Egg and has done work with The Clock Crew. Check out his works below and give him a follow!

@BellmoTheGreat has written a hilarious piece on being a critic in 2024. He’s written quite a number of pieces on topics. The ONLY Time I've Gotten To Play A Real Gamecube is not only an insightful review of the Nintendo Gamecube, but on retro collectors. Check him out and give him a follow.
With Pixel Day approaching, @StrawPi is looking to see some cool pixel art. Whether something you’re working on now or made in the past. Share some of your pixel art creations in the thread!
For this month, The Tank Tribune has been highlighting pixel movies and games that were around before Pixel Day. The pixel motif wasn’t as big on Newgrounds in the early days. Sprite movies were quite the rage with the popularity of Super Mario Bros. Z.. The one we’re going to look at today is I Dream In Retro by @OrinCreed. The inspiration came behind a dream he had of going through multiple levels of games after spending all night playing NES, SNES, and Genesis games.
@Jackho has started the Newgrounds Reading Challenge once again. For this year’s challenge, The Tank Tribune will be featuring book recommendations and reviews from the members of this challenge. This week’s review comes from @Asandir with the book Greed by Marc Elsberg.
“The economy is in shambles, world wide. Herbert Thompson, former winner of the economic Nobel prize, plans to attend a summit in Berlin, where he wants to hold a speech that proposes a solution for these economic voes - but his car gets hacked and run against a tree, killing him and heavily injuring the other passenger who also worked with him on the scientific paper.
Jan, caretaker and basically just a normal guy, sees that agents set the crashed car on fire and take documents with them - the slowly arriving police misses that key event and think that Jan is the main suspect in a possible murder.
As such Jan has no choice but to flee the scene and try to find the man whose name the dying car passenger managed to utter : Fitzroy.
Decent book. The economic theory stuff is very interesting but gets kinda lost in the action heavy, fast paced story.”
@Artcompany has been feeling demotivated by the AI artwork that has stormed the Internet. When looking up art videos she comes across videos on “How to make AI art”, “How to make money off of AI art”, "How to get your parents to talk to you again with AI art", etc. Artists are getting caught using AI art, even companies. Recently Wizards of the Coast admitted to using AI art for Magic: The Gathering and now even Dungeons & Dragons. Join in the conversation with your thoughts on AI art.
Welcome back to the Sunday Matinee. Where we highlight the movies from the Newgrounds Portal that have captivated its users through generations. This week we’re taking a look at all of the movies that won Best of the Month for the year of 2023 as voted on by Newgrounds Members!
The Tank Tribune is back in almost full force. There have been updates to the Playlist features and a lot of cleaning up I have to do with said playlists with these new features. That is what I intend to work on for the rest of Sunday and possibly Monday, as long as the weather where I'm at doesn't knock the power or the Internet out. I've got my fingers crossed on that front. This coming Saturday and Sunday I'll be spending time with Rex. I'm looking forward to that. He is a handsome man, and I am grateful and blessed to have him in my life. Thank you all for your patience and understanding with the absence of issues during the holidays.
