Good Morning Newgrounds! Sorry for the absence of an issue last week. I didn't have as much time to work on my projects as I would have liked due to my day job. It has been a stressful two weeks. If you're an essential worker (a.k.a. sacrifice) then I feel you. Today's issue is going to be covering not only the goings on last week, but the week before it, so this is a huge issue! These past two weeks have been exhausting. Trying to work as a manager at the deli and keep this up is not easy. I've been working on finding a way to make this more streamlined and easier on me in time. I have today and tomorrow off of work and a large backlog to get through. Debuting back in 2006, this exploded in popularity. Based on a rumor that Mario had a subliminal Communist propaganda. Made by @Celarent, his skills would improve especially with his movie Look up at the sky.

The specific rumor was that Mario was designed to look like Joseph Stalin. Of course, I also heard that Dr. Robotnik was designed to look like Theodore Roosevelt, so is that propoganda too? There have been a lot of funny parodies that portray the Mario series in a much darker way. This is one of the best and suitably one of the most well known. What really works is how utterly gorgeous this animation is.

It may be the most realistic Mario I've ever seen. It's a bit hard to show a Mario cartoon when it's based on a sidescroller but you did it fairly well. I especially love how exaggerated the action is with all the blood and everything. I think my favorite part is seeing the sledge hammer hit the box. That really shows off the dimensions well."

"The history of Bytesize goes all the way back to the late 90s, when we ran a series of streaming "gag" cartoons on the front page of NG. At some point the cartoons went stale and the feature seemed obnoxious, so we scrapped it.

Almost a decade later, we reintroduced Bytesize with the big NG redesign launch of July, 2007. Only this time, it featured a much more expansive selection of cartoons by numerous artists from around the site. I decided it would be fun to give it a permanent place here in the Portal because it would also inevitably vanish from the front page."

The Wacom Tablet Giveaway

Back in October 2006, @TomFulp began a project to provide Wacom tablets to artists who had been drawing with nothing more than a mouse. It was an idea by @DanPaladin about making it a regular giveaway. Tom asked for suggestions for popular artists, who still drew using a mouse, and could upgrade to a tablet. These are all of the threads where a tablet was given away. Notable artists include @LazyMuffin, @W-P-S, @TehSlapHappy, and @Raguel, just to name a few. There is always something exciting happening on Newgrounds!

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

Good Morning Newgrounds! Happy Father's Day to @TomFulp, @Fro, @Earfetish, @BoMToons, and all of the other fathers here on Newgrounds! Thank you all for your feedback and support last week. I'll be honest, the first issue was made in testing the waters to see how it would float. Seeing how we are sailing, let's move full speed ahead with this issue and beyond! Special thanks to @Cyberdevil and @rtil for giving me feedback that went into this issue. Special thanks to @TomFulp for getting the word out about the paper. From 2004, Adam Phillips introduce us to one of Newgrounds most adorable and mischievous characters to ever grace the site. His name is Bitey. This would be the start of a series where we explore this mystical world of Brackenwood and see what trouble Bitey gets himself into.

"Brackenwood was originally about a character named Bingbong. It was the adventures of an idiot in a perfect world. It was a pretty thin concept and in an attempt to fatten up the story, I decided Bingbong needed a nemesis. For that role, I created a cruel trickster in the mould of Pan, the ancient Greek god of the wild. Before Bitey came along, Brackenwood had been years in development, but from memory the "Bitey of Brackenwood" movie itself only took a few weeks."

Back in 2009, @Elios had a large part of his wall and decided he was going to add the Newgrounds Tank Logo to it. This project blew out of proportion and then the members of Newgrounds started having their names added to the wall. Even though Elios doesn't live there anymore, the pictures serve as piece of Newgrounds history. Remember, there are always ways to contribute to Newgrounds.

The month of May has come and gone and we had a lot of great submissions. A new addition to the Sublo and Tangy Mustard series took home third for the month. PICOLLAGE2020 celebrated 25 Years of Newgrounds. Below are the Best Movie and Best Game of the Month!

Tom has also touched on the events going on in the country entitled America this Week that you should absolutely take some time to read. He has also showcased some Cool Artists to Check Out.

In other news, if you're not participating in the Musk Jam you should know that the prize pool is now over $5,000. With money being awarded to those even in the bottom ten! Get out there and poke some fun at Elon Musk.

From 2007 comes one of the first collaborations from the Art Forum. All about the journey of a red line. Over 50 artists contributed to this collab. The collab was created by accident when @HeRetiK made the thread.

"When I started the thread, I never meant to create a collab. It just seemed like a fun thing to try.

Then things took off and I started to compile it into a scrollable Flash gallery too see how it would look like. Since so many people participated and enjoyed making entries for the thread, I started to update the gallery whenever I could and suggested to turn it into a collab. I still can't believe that this little fun thread became the first of many Art Forum Collabs :)

Looking back I can't decide whose entries I enjoyed the most. There were too many people that contributed a lot to the thread and collab."
