Good Morning Newgrounds! For all of my fellow Americans out there I hope you had a fantastic 4th of July! I have been hard at work tweaking the redesign for the paper. It is still a work in progress so if there are some things that you like and don't like be sure to tell me. It is incredible that this paper has been around for an entire year already. Although some weeks have been missed, it has been a growing process. With that said if you're looking to beat the heat then spend it with Newgrounds! We have a Summer Animation Jam going on right now! It is different from others as being a tournament that harkens back to The Tournament of Flash Artists and The Newgrounds Annual Tournament of Animation (TOFA and NATA respectively). A Summer Game Jam is coming up with fundraising happening for it! RWappin is working on a new cartoon show called End Times. The Friday Night Funkin' Animation Jam winners have been announced. The Summer Writing Contest has begun. There is never a dull moment when you are on Newgrounds! More content than YouTube could ever provide to you, hell most of it you've probably seen on YouTube! @RWappin is working on a full fledged animated show entitled End Times. He doesn't know how he is going to fund this project, he's mainly throwing it out there. It will be a show involving adult themes. Here's a small synopsis of the show to give you an idea.

@BenTibbetts has recently moved to Texas where he is teaching music. If you are looking to use Ben's music unlicensed then you can become a subscriber to his site for $4 a month and have access to the Audio Store. There he has posted a solo harp piece entitled Cloud City.

There are many coveted awards here on Newgrounds. The Daily Feature, for the best flash of that day. The Weekly User's Choice, the best flash for the week. The Review Crew Pick, the highest rated flash for that week. To win all three is called a sweep or the Triple Crown. The first movie on Newgrounds to do this was an action movie called Kong by @Raz. Super Smash Bros. Brawl site up

After the smash hit Super Smash Bros. Melee, the third entry in the series was highly anticipated. This reboot has been a labor of love. I didn't miss out on anything Newgrounds related, I just wasn't able to write properly. I could write by hand no problem. Typing was a different story. I am back in full force now so expect the 1 Year Anniversary of The Tank Tribune to be phenomenal! I intend on doing some work on the Patreon as well. I am thankful to my patrons for being so patient with me. This old soul isn't as up to date as he should be. I look forward to seeing all of you next week! I was hoping to put The Tank Tribune back on Sundays. Unfortunately due to the way certain things are timed here on Newgrounds and to ensure that I have everything covered I will have to keep The Tank Tribune on Mondays going forward.

I hope you like the new profile pic and new banner. I've been working on things under the hood and my wrist is back to 90% recovered. I will see all of you tomorrow morning at 6AM!

If you missed the last post INJURED, the short version is that I hurt my wrist and may be in the beginning stages of carpal tunnel. I've been getting used to writing with a wrist brace. I've been reading the past issues of The Tank Tribune and felt like there need to be some changes going forward. That's what I've been working on.

The end of May will be an ultimate edition of The Tank Tribune in its current format. Starting in June, there will be the launching of the redesign. I will be posting the layout to the redesign on my Patreon.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

I am sorry that there will not be an edition of The Tank Tribune this week. I will be working on a mega issue for next week to make up. Last Sunday I ended up in the hospital. I was slicing at work when my left hand and arm went numb. I pinched a nerve in my left wrist. I was diagnosed with beginning stages of carpal tunnel. I have to follow up with a hand doctor to see where I go from there. Right now I am in a wrist brace so typing and work has been hell. Last night I ended up in a great deal of pain in two occasions and broke two pens with my right hand to cope with the pain.

I was not able to work on the paper last week like usual. I wasn't able to work on any of my writings sadly. I apologize immensely. There will be a new issue next week to start off the month of May. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

In the meantime, if you can please Support Newgrounds. Without Newgrounds there is no Tank Tribune or any of the fun stuff you have come to love here on the site.

Friday Night Funkin': The Full Ass Game by Funkin Crew

FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' launched Week 7 with the TANKMEN! It was so popular that Newgrounds crashed. A full game is looking to be in development with fundraising on Kickstarter. The goal was $60,000 which it surpassed it ten fold with over $700,000 pledged.

The Push For Pico Day!

@Galloglasses came up with the idea to celebrate one of Newgrounds mascots. The creation of Tom Fulp, Pico. Pico is to Newgrounds what Mickey Mouse is to Disney. Pico Day is an important holiday here on Newgrounds. A celebration of Pico and his friends, the TANKMEN, and other Newgrounds iconic characters. This was an idea back in 2005. We have celebrated Pico Day since then.

Work has been hell the past few days. Sunday while I was slicing I had numbness in my left hand that went through my arm. My heart started doing crazy stuff and I had trouble breathing. I pinched a nerve in my wrist which messed with blood flow and through my system out of whack. The doctor believes I am in the beginning stages of carpal tunnel syndrome. I am currently wearing a wrist brace with a thumb stint in it and I have to follow up with a doctor going forward. I am resting my wrist as much as possible going forward so please be patient with my writings going forward. Thank you all for reading and sorry for the delay in the paper, but out of all the things to delay it, overwhelming traffic on Newgrounds is a wonderful way for it to crash.

A LOOK BACK AT THREADS OF THE PAST

Wii Virtual Console Thread 2.0

When the Nintendo Wii was selling like hotcakes, one of the best features on it was the Virtual Console. You could buy old NES, SNES, and N64 games on it for sure. There were also Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, Arcade, and TurboGrafx-16 games on it as well. A lot of these games you could experience for the first time! @The-Great-One made a Wii Virtual Console thread in the past. It was updated though with this revival thread to include suggested titles, an Editor's Pick, and when the Nintendo 3DS released to highlight the Virtual Console games on it which were handheld titles for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and Sega Game Gear as well! It lasted a long time! Sadly the Virtual Console is no more and the Nintendo Switch with the NES Classic and SNES Classic is nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to what its predecessor did.

Pianorte (1994-2021)

@lokidnb informed us that one of our newest users and a dear friend to him @Pianorte passed away after being in a car crash. Before this event The Tank Tribune had featured two of his songs in the Phonograph. Since then all music from Pianorte has been taken from the site. He was new to the site and was already hitting his stride with his music. I fell in love with his music the moment I heard it browsing the Audio Portal. He will be missed. He is still included in the Featured Composers section even though his music has been removed. I'm sorry if anyone wasn't fortunate enough to hear his music. If you were fortunate enough to hear it or even talk with him, I am sorry for your loss. Rest in peace.

Pico's School

For April Fool's Day, Tom updated Pico's School to have non-violent gameplay with a nice story that has a happy ending. There is also a cameo from FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' in it as well. The original has been put back, but you can play the updated version entitled Pico's School: Love Conquers All.

Hey, how about a game?

I feel it is important though to give a word of caution to those. There has been a lot going on Newgrounds lately. With the FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN' Jam and Flash Forward Jam wrapped up with Pico Day on the horizon. Madness Day will be here before you know it. If you're reading this and have been hesitant to post your work on Newgrounds out of fear of what people will say. Abandon that fear and just post it. Because in this world you only get one life and you are never promised tomorrow. Get your works out there and grow. Don't move too slowly either. That has been a regret of mine for years now. Redesign Launched!

The long awaited redesign officially launched last week! Brand new user pages were introduced which help make The Tank Tribune possible for all of you to read! The Bytesize has made its return to the front page! A-Bot is now alive kicking it with Darnell on the Audio Portal playing the Weekly Top 5! There are now Collections and Series Pages! There have been so many bells and whistles to play with on the site now!

Tom also has a Post-Redesign Notes section so you can share your favorite parts of the redesign! It is a labor of love and dedication to all the creators on here so feedback on it would be grateful. Which if you've found any bugs on the site or something doesn't seem to be working right or you don't understand a certain part of the redesign or can't find something where you thought it was then go to this thread.
