LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Good Morning Newgrounds! Or should I say Afternoon at the time of posting this. I've been getting a lot of my writing back in order, so last night exhausted me, so sorry for the delay in the paper today. For my patrons on Patreon, The Tank Tribune will be releasing one whole day early going forward, so you can get the news of Newgrounds on Saturday before everyone else does! This will be for the Producer tier only though. Enough about that though. Newgrounds has closed out 2023 and entered 2024, by getting hacked. Hey it happens, and the site is beefing up its security going forward. More information in this post for that. Pixel Day is coming up this month and the Flash Forward Jam won't be too far behind it. It is good to be back writing The Tank Tribune! Thank you for helping get this paper to 1,000 Followers. That still blows my mind! With that out of the way, here are the hip happenings of Newgrounds!

Email 2FA and Account Security
There have been some recent incidents with people’s accounts being broken into. A 2-Factor Authorization set-up has become available with the use of an authenticator app. There are instructions below on how to better secure your account.
- Use a strong password, meaning a long combination of various characters. Avoid single words or common phrases.
- Enable 2FA on your account. This can be done via the “Login Options and 2-Factor Authentication” link on your Account page.
- Consider also choosing the option to log in with your email address instead of your username, so any attempts to log in using your username will fail. You can also do this via the Login Options page.
- Make sure your email address is up-to-date and your account isn’t connected to an email address you no longer have access to.
- Use a unique password for each platform you use, so a compromised account from one place doesn’t impact your account in other places.
@YendorNG has also posted some steps to take. He has had history working technical support for a large Internet Service Provider. Especially if you play any multiplayer video games online that require an E-Mail. If you can disable cookies on websites then do so, if you can’t then clear your browser cookies every time you log off. Doesn’t matter what you do, get into that habit. You may be able to set-up your browser to clear your Internet history and cookies every time you close your browser.
VPN logins have been blocked for a while. With the recent addition of the E-Mail 2FA, VPN logins should be working fine again. If you are experiencing any bugs, you can message Tom here on Newgrounds or through Newgrounds E-Mail.
Pixel Day
The 9th Annual Pixel Day is this month! January 23rd! We celebrate the minute form of art, pixel by pixel to create masterpieces. There will be prizes for Best Art, Best Animation, Best Game, and Best Chiptune Music. The Tank Tribune will be featuring some past Pixel Day entries throughout this month!
Be sure to add "pixelday2024" to your entry so it can be judged on Pixel Day. If your entry is making its world premiere use the tag "pixelday2024-compo" so it can be part of the competition. If you want to contribute to the prize fund then use the donation option on the Supporter page and PM Tom letting him know your donation is going towards Pixel Day.

Newgrounds Zero Hour: New recruits
@LuckoDaStars has taken on new leadership of the game Newgrounds Zero Hour. He’s looking to bring on more pixel artists to the project. Pixel artists with a good amount of experience, if there’s something the projects asks for that you’re unsure of, the team is able to teach those willing to learn.
NG Musicians Research Study Final Report
@VibrantMan started working on a study of Newgrounds Musicians back in September 2023. That study has concluded. It is a comprehensive study detailing the musicians ages, where they are in the world, how they distribute their music, about posting their works on Newgrounds, and more. Below are just a few of the questions that are a part of the study. You can read the study here.

To celebrate Pixel Day, I thought it would be a good idea to look back at pixel games that graced Newgrounds before Pixel Day was a holiday. This week we’re looking at Super PSTW Action RPG. Some of you may have memories of this game from the review by @axman13. Which would go on to inspire Dot Dot Dot - Animated. The game itself though is a tongue and cheek homage to RPGs. Play it if you haven’t yet.

No A-Rated Submissions. The final movie will be in 1920 x 1080 resolution at 24 FPS. Keep this in mind when submitting your entry(s).
The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. Today we’re looking back at games from past Pixel Day entries.

The holidays wiped me out this year. I hosted a Christmas party this year, attended two other Christmas parties, all of these I went with Rex to. There just wasn't any time to breathe. I popped onto Newgrounds when I had time to spare. It's just been exhausting to say the least. I have returned though and I'm ready to bring all I can to Newgrounds. Not just through The Tank Tribune, but through my other five projects as well, which are about to turn to six and seven other projects. It's time to get this workhorse back to work.
