Mazel Tov Newgrounds! We are officially in the midst of Hanukkah so things have been busy on my end over here. To all of my Jewish relations here on Newgrounds I wish all of you a Happy Hanukkah! Drawing Tablet Giveaway!
With the holidays and the season of giving underway, Tom is giving out drawing tablets. This is a special event that has been going on for the past couple of days ago. The tablet is the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2. If you are an aspiring artist who is interested then PM Tom with the following information.
- Why you need and what you hope to achieve with a new drawing tablet.
- Links with examples of your existing art / animation (your odds improve greatly if you have work here on NG).
- Your full name and US mailing address.
There is no specified number of tablets that will be given away, if you want to raise the amount given then please consider Supporting Newgrounds. PM Tom afterwards to state your donation towards this giveaway. This isn't the first time Newgrounds has taken on a project like this. Tom gave away Wacom Tablets on different occasions in the past.

Flash Forward Jam
Tom started to toy around with the next jam being about Flash. Drawing Tablet Winner @Dungeonation made a large donation in favor of the Jam. There is now over $1000 in the prize pool alongside an interview with @TheInterviewer for the winners of Best Movie and Best Game. There is also a Bonus $100 to Most Mobile-Friendly version, no matter where it places.
Jam Requirements:
- Make something interactive with Flash, either a game or interactive movie, which could include an animation collab with a cool menu interface, or something with decisions / alternate endings.
- Make it with ActionScript 2 and confirm it works via Ruffle before publishing. You will see a “Test with Ruffle” link on your preview page. Ruffle is what we use to run Flash on NG without the Flash plugin, you can read more about it below!
- Upload any time in January and tag it “Flash-Forward-Jam” to participate!
Icon Mods
Ruffle updates have added thumbnails behind the play button. A lot of old flashes will need larger thumbnails to accommodate this new update. The movie hub itself is also upgrading to large thumbnails. Tom is looking to add new Icon Moderators so if you're looking to help out then let him know in this thread and he may reach out to you.
Pico in FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN'
Pico has been added as a playable character in FRIDAY NIGHT FUNKIN'! Check it out if you haven't already. He comes with his own theme song that you can hear in this morning's Phonograph.
Among Us
A new map will be added to Among Us. The airship. A map that is modeled after the airship from the Henry Stickmin series entry Infiltrating the Airship. A new song was added for the trailer which you can hear in this morning's Phonograph! Among Us also won Best Multiplayer and Best Mobile Game in the Game Awards this year! Congratulations to Innersloth!
Super Mario Bros Z ep 6 Reanimated Collab
Over 100 animators came together to recreate the sixth episode of the series "Brawl on the Vanishing Island". It is in celebration of @Alvin-Earthworm returning from hiatus. If you haven't seen it check it out! The original intro movie and sixth episode are below for side by side comparison.

Nymble Major update 1.2.2.0
@xalezar has made some huge updates to his game Nymble. If you haven't played it yet then give it a shot. It's been tweaked and more feedback will be appreciated.
- Levels 41 to 60 now unlocked! Skip to the boss level or play them all again. (You may find some little surprises.)
- Improved level cleared UI to explain how to get a higher score. I thought about including this in the HUD (Heads-up display), but opted to keep it clean and minimal and have the player find out by exploring.
- Level 3, updated to better onboard the player about how to kill enemies.
- Level 20 (boss): Same level, just replaced some gates, and reduced map size
- Level 40 (boss): Some modified puzzles as well as a more exploratory layout.
- Levels 51, 52, 54: New designs to onboard the "snowman" a bit more clearly. Slight improvement in puzzle complexity.
- Level 60 (boss): redesigned the "snowman" puzzle. The boss fight spawn tiles have been redesigned to have a clearer active/inactive state.
- Partially fixed stacking sound-effects glitch.
- Toggle the snow by pressing "P" and see if it reduces lag in your browser.

Christmas special. Injured workers, PLZ HELP!!!!
@LuckoDaStars has been working on a passion project, a Christmas Special with his Newgrounds team. Two of his animators have been injured and he is looking for guest animators to fill in. His requirements for the project are below. If you're an animator or know an animator who can help then please reach out.
- 2-3 animators who can do this in a short deadline time (mainly animating the character they have been assigned and certain ones will be animating particular scene characters, the script have already been set in stone so i cannot change characters but cameos are fine)

This section was always some latest news from an artist accompanied by a piece of artwork. All of the past pieces are featured in the Tribune Art Gallery. With Tom doing the tablet giveaway I thought it was time to expand this section more.
This week's artist is @JesterDK. One of the refugees who made the exodus from Tumblr. He ended up wondering around looking for a site to post all kinds of content. His works have shown focus on video games and sci-fi, notably Mass Effect and Star Wars.

RECIPES FROM THE NEWGROUNDS COMMUNITY
Welcome back to the Newgrounds Kitchen. With the holidays coming around the corner, feeding a lot of people can be difficult and time consuming. This recipe is for my own Pot Roast. A recipe that can feed your family gathering or if friends and family are isolating, it can be made in advance and shared!
The-Great-One's Pot Roast
INGREDIENTS
- 2 pounds chuck roast
- 1 cup red wine
- 1/3 cup Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/3 cup Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 large carrot chopped
- 1 celery stalk chopped
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 6 cloves of garlic crushed
- 2 large Russet Potatoes cut into fours (you can substitute fingerling potatoes)
- 1 tablespoon Italian Seasoning
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- ground cumin
- Kosher salt
- 4 tablespoons butter cut into fours
- fresh rosemary stalks
- lard
STEP 1: Liberally rub both sides of the chuck with ground cumin and salt.
STEP 2: Place a pan over high heat. Once it's hot, place the chuck directly into the pan. Sear for 2 minutes or until brown.
STEP 3: Flip and sear the other side for 3 minutes or until brown. Remove from pan and set aside. Add 1 tablespoon of lard to the pan.
STEP 4: Turn the heat down to medium and add your onion and garlic. Cook until onion is softened.
STEP 5: Add the carrot, Worcestershire Sauce, Balsamic Vinegar, and red wine. Bring to a simmer then add the corn starch. Cook until slightly thickened.
STEP 6: In the cooking vessel of your choice, add the potatoes at the bottom and 1/2 of the liquid from the pan. Place your chuck roast in and the other 1/2 of the liquid. Whatever you're cooking in set it to low or 200 degrees for at least 4 hours.
STEP 7: Add your rosemary and butter to your roast and cook for another 4 hours.
STEP 8: Remove everything from the vessel onto your final serving platter and let rest for 5-10 minutes before carving.

The week can get people down sometimes. With all of the hustle and bustle and action packed drama that entails our lives, sometimes it's nice to just kickback and relax. Here are a few games to play to unwind on this Monday Morning.
This week went a lot smoother than last week. No Internet problems on this end. I really need to look into a way to format this better. Then again I wish I could just schedule a news post to post automatically. That kind of a system though could be easily abused though so I understand why it isn't implemented. Would make things a lot easier on my end though. Perhaps when we get a Literature Portal this paper can really stretch its wings and I can just upload an entire PDF file with links already to go. I digress though. I hope you're all having fun for the holidays despite how this entire year has been and that you enjoy your morning!
