THE LATEST FROM THE FOUNDER AND CEO OF NEWGROUNDS @TomFulp

THE BEST OF MAY 2020

The month of May has come and gone and we had a lot of great submissions. A new addition to the Sublo and Tangy Mustard series took home third for the month. PICOLLAGE2020 celebrated 25 Years of Newgrounds. Below are the Best Movie and Best Game of the Month!

Tom has also touched on the events going on in the country entitled America this Week that you should absolutely take some time to read. He has also showcased some Cool Artists to Check Out.

In other news, if you're not participating in the Musk Jam you should know that the prize pool is now over $5,000. With money being awarded to those even in the bottom ten! Get out there and poke some fun at Elon Musk.

@VoicesByCorey is also hosting a Voice Actor Collab. It is open to both voice actors and writers. If you got a microphone then now is the time to jump in! If you don't and have the gift of gab to put to pen and ink then your time to shine is here as well!

ROBOT DAY is on August 26th and entries can now be submitted. You can read all about it from @MindChamber here. It has been three years since the last ROBOT DAY so get out there and make something robotic! (In a creative sense of course).

Last Week's Daily Features from the Portal as posted through P-Bot's Postings are listed here. We have a return from @Krinkels with An Experiment. A new cartoon from @meatcanyon parodying The Office. An entry in the Musk Jam from @JohnnyUtah entitled ELON. Also Mario and Sonic have cracked the Daily Features once again. Enjoy!

From 2007 comes one of the first collaborations from the Art Forum. All about the journey of a red line. Over 50 artists contributed to this collab. The collab was created by accident when @HeRetiK made the thread.

"When I started the thread, I never meant to create a collab. It just seemed like a fun thing to try.

Then things took off and I started to compile it into a scrollable Flash gallery too see how it would look like. Since so many people participated and enjoyed making entries for the thread, I started to update the gallery whenever I could and suggested to turn it into a collab. I still can't believe that this little fun thread became the first of many Art Forum Collabs :)

Looking back I can't decide whose entries I enjoyed the most. There were too many people that contributed a lot to the thread and collab."

THE MEMBERS OF NEWGROUNDS

NEW USERS

@Skoops is a concept artist and game designer who joined us! He gave a friendly hello in the Introduction Thread. If you got the time, introduce yourself!

@Seth-Infinite joined at the beginning of June. He is a writer and an artist working on a graphic novel series and developing games. Perhaps we will see these two projects intertwine! He said hi in the Introduction Thread so give him a shout if you're in that department.

A LOOK BACK AT THREADS OF THE PAST

I feel lucky today

Created by @MetalDart on September 15, 2007. Each thread has its own ID number so it can be easy to find and track. This happened to be thread number 777777. Quite a lucky number to get.

Funny thread title pairs.

Created by @Rohedin on April 11, 2007. Sometimes two threads would be matched up by coincidence on the forums and it was always funny to see it. Then parody threads would pop up with the original thread and then it wasn't much of a coincidence anymore. The thread was fun, but it got out of hand and became a +1 fest so it was locked. It is fun to look back on it though.

I really wasn't expecting this. I feel kinda outed, but at the same time, I feel kinda special. A little more exposed than I'm comfortable with, but it's still nice to catch some positive attention.

I appreciate your coverage of the no pants revolution. It's an impossible movement!

What a great read!

Love this! Great that it mixes in some history and game recommendations alongside so many current events!

Interesting, thanks for the mention

This is good exercise if you're a media / communications major, keep it up

Noice

The last sentence in my writing supposedly talking about the situation in the United States and abroad, reads “put spices on me baby!”

All joking aside thanks for the mention.

This is such a fantastic way to spread some different works! Also, I feel honored to have made it in the first issue!

Nice. Will definitely be tuning into this on the weekly, and what an honor to be featured on the very first! Awesome initiative.

Thanks for your mention! :D
